Default Crash Course in turbo....taught by you!!!!!

Car: 1995 Civic CX hatchback
Engine: Jdm d15b
Mods: Thermal R&D Catback
Newest Addition: Greddy Sohc Kit with large greddy intercooler, Type S bov, greddy turbo timer, oil press, air/fuel, Boost gauges, greddy blue box, GSR injectors if needed, B&M fuel reg/gauge if needed.

Questions:
1: Kid i bought it from said he adjusted the wastegate to 8 psi, how can i bring it to 6? Found a site with pics/instructions

2: Do I need a boost controllor? Not really unless wastegate adjustment fails.

3: How should i do fuel management? Just run the blue box with stock jdm d15b injectoers and no fuel reg? If I should use the blue box, any wiring diagrams availble to run it on the car/p28 ecu? Running just blue box at 6psi

4: Any wiring diagrams to run the turbo timer? (Found it)

5: Have a z6 tranny with 50k on it and a CX tranny with 154k (still running mint) Which one should i run? Will the CX tranny fall out of boost when i shift at 7200 (redline) Installed Si tranny

6: Can i have a diagram of the vac lines? There are two nipples on the turbo (one on turbo, one on wastegate thing) 2 on the Type S bov. I know i run from the manifold to the FPR but im confused on where/how to run vac lines between the manifold/bov/turbo. Any help appreciated Pretty much set

7: Can I just run the car at 6 psi on whatever fuel management u suggest above safely? Running it at 6 psi with blue box and nothing else fuel wise

I am a pretty knowledgable guy but im trying to double check since this is on my friends car. Any answers/links/help to any or all questions is more then welcome.

This is a little more than a crash course. Sorry, It'd take me 20 minutes to answer all your questions. search. maybe search for the offical drag III install thread. That should give you an idea how to do some of this stuff.

I'm so ghey for answering this post and not telling him to do a search... well since the search feature is a littly messed up. I'll just answer him.

1: If it has a spring try streching it a little.
If it as a thin thread arm, adj it with screwing and unscrewing.

2: Do you need or do you want one. You dont need one, but they can be handy in the future, read up on them.

3: for 5 psi, you might try the blue box, mixed opinions like most topics on here.

4: sorry dont have that.

5: run the z6, those long gears wont help you with 6 psi, take the short one. do a search for mista bone's website

6: no diagrams

7: homemadeturbo.com

Good luck,

Nick

1. the greddy 18g kit had a threaded wastegate actuator arm. i suppose the 15g SOHC kit would too.

2. no. your boost goal is very low. boost controller is for raising your boost levels over the wastegate spring capability

3. greddy blue box, plus the injectors that the greddy kit comes with. i believe they are RC 310cc. search a little bit more and you'll dig up a wiring diagram.

4. hooks up with just a few wires. it's VERY simple. i dont remember the colors offhand for the greddy one, but they're basically: ground, +12v constant, accessory, ignition, and switched ground (e-brake wire)

5. the Z6 tranny is good. CX tranny's are wide as fawk. no.

6. manifold-BOV, turbo-wastegate. for the BOV you can put in a T from the FPR or the brake booster line (the fat one)

7. 6psi is hardly anything. since you dont have the injectors supplied with the greddy kit, you should sell the blue box and pick up a VAFC and 440cc injectors for the AFC hack, or simply plug in an FMU, missing link, and pump.

i'm not hating, but i think you will want to research a little more before you call yourself knowledgeable...

Knowledgeable with hondas, not turboing them. I found diagrams for the blue box install as well as the turbo timer. Im taking it that if running any more then 5.5 psi no blue box? Can i run 6 psi with just the blue box and GSR injectors and no other fuel managment?
Also, vac line wise, the TYPEs bov has an upper and lower nipple. I believe lower is ran back to the charge pipe and upper to manifold. As for the turbo, so i just run a vac line connecting the two nipples?

The sohc Greddy kit uses stock injectors. The blue box makes the car run really rich, so it would be safe to run 6 psi. I am running 8psi on the stock fuel system with a bluebox. connect the two nipples on the turbo together.

Hey man, thank you. Now for the BOV... top nipple to manifold bottom one to intake pipe fright before throttle body?

Sorry for the double. But in regards to adjusting the wastegate but turning the rod thing. Do i want the rod to be longer or short after adjustment. Or rather, which way lowers boost cause ill just go down to min boost then use my gauge to bring it up. Thanks

Edit: Looked at the wastegate rod again. do i want more or less threads visible for lower boost. Is it possible to lower the boost too much? Thanks again

1.) We already figured that out.
2.) Marcus should get one, but he owes you more $$$ than jesus, so do this:
http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php
Then again he doesn't want to boost high, so he doesn't need one.
3.) Of course you should, but agian, marcus is in the hole. Have Dave chip his ECU. Retard timing about 1 degree/psi and set a nice fuel curve. Should run good @ low boost like this.
4.) Fast Eddy already wired it
5.) Use the CX tranny to make sure all the turbo components work, then swap trannys!
6.)

7.) Yes, refer to answer #3

as you make the actuator arm longer (more threads visible i suppose) the boost level will get lower.
