Crank Case Ventilation

I almost have my b16a2 ready to drop in but I'm confused about crank case venting. Below is a picture of the exhaust side of the engine block. I'm not sure exactly what this hose does, is it for venting the crank case or something else? My black box and pcv are still in tact. I have a valve cover with 2 10an fittings welded on that I was planning on using for a catch can. Do I leave the PCV and black box as is? And what about the hose on the front of the block? Thanks

I'm not sure off the top of my head what that fitting/line is. Where does it run? Looks like an oil line for something.

You can still use your valve cover vents and leave the OEM PCV/Black Box intact if you desire. You could also delete and plug the black box and OEM PCV if you wanted, either way will work.

What your seeing here is the factory coolant drain plug, looks like previous owner was using as a coolant source....imo get a oem drain plug and plug it up. Vents for b series would be on intake side.

remove pcv from black box at that point you can either retrofit a breather system for it or plug it up, most remove black box and plug it. Although chance is technically correct here you need to make sure the pcv valve functions at desired boost levels as you dont want to boost the crankase

So there wouldn’t be no disadvantage if i left it be? And where could I find a plug for the coolant port I’m not sure what to look up

They should sell them at majestic honda or cheap acura parts, or you should be able to find one off any random bseries parts motor.

as far as ventilation like I said make sure its not boosting your crankcase. Id prolly just plug it you can get the plugs pretty cheap on ebay

heres the part# for the drain plug its $11 at majestic honda

Awesome thanks for the link! What are the black box plugs called? And how do I make sure I’m not boosting my crank case?

What should I do with the line coming from the back of the block into the black box?

Cap it with a vacuum end cap found at your local parts store
