Default ?!?!? Cracked Exhuast housing on Tubonetics t3/t4 ?!?!

Is that a f*cking crack on the exhuast housing of my turbo?!? This turbo is brand new- wtf is going on?

Is it just me or does that look like a crack?

Do you have a flex pipe on your downpipe?

Thats prolly why. Without the flexpipe the downpipe has no play in it. When the engine torques the manifold and turbo move in the same direction as the engine. However, since you don't have a flexpipe the downpipe fights to move with the manifold and turbo. Get a flexpipe on there and that should help.

will this crack have a big effect on my performance? I mean do you think exhaust can leak thru there? What the fix? A new exhaust housing?

Personally I would just get a new exhaust housing. Cast iron can be welded but it takes a different process then welding steel. Get a price quote on a new exhaust housing and also to repair it. If its not that much of a difference just get a new housing. Goodluck.

thats just a stain.... the same **** is on the dp flange and trust me, the downpipe will crack long before your turbine housing ever will

knock it down with a wire brush or wheel; if its a water stain it'll go away if not a big ugly crack will show up.

for that type of a crack to show up right there that would have to be a crazy coincidence and a major manufacturing defect.

yeah thats what im saying if its a crack thats gotta be a defect, i mean i have no flex tube but theres no way it puts that much stress on the housing...

Im gonna go hit it with a wire brush and see what i turn up...

seems to me like it might just be a stain.
check out your dp flange, you have some on there as well.

just a thought. goodluck

EDIT: it is best though if you do get a piece of flexpipe to aid when the motor does torque, you wouldn't want anything to break in the long run. as stated above, it puts an immense amount of stress on dp/turbine housing when the motor rocks.

well i went out after she cooled down and tried to wipe off the mark.

It isnt a crack but I dont think its a water stain. It looks like a welded seam kinda, weird, but its a raised line like a seam but not an indented line like a crack.

i dont think wiping it off is gonna make it go away. you gotta scrub or wire wheel it off waterstains dont just wipe off.
