Default Cracked block...Oil pressure sender unit

so heres a big downer....while screwing my oil pressure sender unit back into the block, my retarded *** tightened it too hard and well, yeah....CRACK in the block. Just about 80% of the threading cracked off in two pieces....

What in the hell can I do?...I tried JB weld and that didn't seem to work very well because when I threaded the OPS unit back in just cracked off again...

But, thinking about what JB weld is..it's a mixture of steel and a hardener...the block though, is cast aluminum...so this probably wouldn't work as well as say, aluminum epoxy? Right?

Should I try an aluminum epoxy or something along those lines?

Any suggestion would be great...because I feel like a big terd right now...

I thought of that but...well thats costing money I don't have, so I guess what I'm trying to do is get her running on a cost efficient level...

Thank you though.

Any other suggestions H-T?

you could screw your oil pressure sender in the head where people feed vtec oil. Then just plug the back of the block. I would only do that if I was stranded somewhere...

Did the same exact thing to my D16.. I tried JB weld too, doesn't work. I had to end up using a larle suspension bolt to plug the hole, but of course I now have no oil pressure warning. GRanted this is only a D16 so I'm not too worried, but if I were you, I'd plug it up and get yourself an oil sandwich adapter (which I will never run without) and run an oil pressure gauge or run a fitting to it that will let you screw the sender onto it.

Holy glorious ****....I didn't even think of that...and I actually happen to have a plug that fits exactly in there!

But first, let my get this straight...the oil pressure sender unit is not necessarily important? It only sends a warning to my dash?

So all in all...it's okay the car without it being hooked up?

Thank You Honda-Tech!!!!!

i think you would have to hook up the oil pressure sending unit for vtec purposes also....the ecu needs the signal to engage vtec

That's correct. You could though just run an oil distribution block off your sammich adapter and put the factory OPS on that (using the bpst adapter). That's what I did. I have both the stock OPS and an autometer oil pressure gauge running off my oil distribution block on my firewall.

Edit: I don't have VTEC, so I'm not sure if it'd need the OPS signal for that or not. I'm thinking no though. I think all that logic exists in the head. Don't quote me though.

OPS won't affect VTEC, the varaible valve system has it's own pressure sensor.

Right, the VTEC oil pressure switch is near the solenoid itself.

vtec has its own pressure switch im running no oem ops at all and my car is fine i would highly recommoned getting a oil pressure gauge

We did this to my block. Tried JB weld...didn't work. We ended up using a 1/8" NPT tap to cut new DIFFERENT threads, then running a 1/8" NPT plug in and slobbing some JB weld around it. It leaks a TINY bit, but once the car heats up, the heat closes the cracks. Now I run a GE sandwich plate for my sensor and to feed the turbo oil.

I will never recommend to anyone to use the oil sending unit as a location to feed oil.
