CR question (B16A2+ GT30R)
I got a B16A2 and tore it down with the intention of building it N/A, but a ride in a Jason Hunt tuned GSR with a revhard kit convinced me to go to the dark side.
Basically I'm just wondering what compression ratio people would recommend for:
Stock block B16A2
Eagle rods
CP/endyne/wiseco pistons
ARP studs
mild head work
GT30R (SC60 etc..) at the very most
This is a street car, in fact my daily driver so I'm thinking 9.0:1 would be too low and make the car really feel like a 1.6l. I was actually thinking something around 10.0:1 to help with low end and spool as I'd rather have response over a wall of power. Keep in mind I have no intention of making more than 300whp on pump (93) or revving past 8,500. I'd like it to be reliable...
any (helpful) input would be appretiated
PS. I think this is doable from what i've read knowing a decent tune is a must. The GSR I spoke of has been pushing 10psi on the SC60 making 250whp/190wtq (with a 60mm chambered exhuast ) for a year now with no issues so I have confidence a semi-built b16 could handle it.

Re: CR question (SH4DY)
i would go cp 9:1,and if you go 10:1 it wont spool your turbo noticably faster.its still a 1.6ltr
and if you do get a gt30r series turbocharger you will have a great powerband.
i would recommend a gt3071r for your needs.my opinion

Re: CR question (hondaaccord94)
did some reading on that turbo and most of them come internally gated with a T-25 flange... not sure how difficult it would be to source manifolds, DPs with those configurations.
About the 9:1; Do you recommend it for the added head-room of tolerable levels of knock/det or simply because you can run more boost and timing and make more power top end (kind of one in the same though i guess huh?)
thanks for the quick reply though

its externally wastegated
im not saying you can't run 10:1 it can be as reliable as 9:1 with a good tune.
like you said it helps with knock/det and more boost with pump gas.
i've used that turbocharger on the street and i think thats one of the best turbos to use for daily driving, alot of fun and it gives you room to improve later on down the road.
