CP pistons + stock rods?
Stock Drag kit, stock first-gen B16A. Two pistons failed, now time to rebuild. On a budget, as always. Will aftermarket pistons work on stock rods? Are there any issues with this combo? Gotta get this damn car back up and running. Thanks.

btw, to answer your question, yes stock rods will work with forged pistons. I would suggest changing the rods with a set of H-beam rods.. they are only 225 at tuner toys

Do you know exactly what happened? I've been reading countless setups listed on here with people running 10psi on the stock B16 with no problems.

This is what I read also, but then again I'm running the fmu still and no tuning. I've been having overheating issues, and after a hard night at the track my car decided to billow bluish smoke. Felt like I was running on 3 cylinders. Turns out it was two.

I hate to say it but there is your problem, the overheating issue melted your pistons. I'm guessing you checked oil level and kept coolant in the radiator.
Change your thermostat, water pump and oil pump just to be safe while your at it.

Stock rods are press fit, forged have floating pins. They will not work unless u get your stock rods machined out.
IMHO its not worth it, just save up and get yourself some eagles.

I did not know that, sorry for the misleading response. I agree, if you have it apart why not replace the rods while you're at it?

Get rid of that fmu and buy some sort of engine management system like crome, uderdata, aem...etc. Also r u stll using the inline pump that came with the drag kit or did u switch to a intank?

Intank pump, so thats a negative on the pistons huh... well, it'll be better in the long run. When I bought the pistons, I was told they wouldn't work. He never got into detail, but I wasn't sure myself (kinda figuring he was just trying to up-sell me). So it's not a straight foward task? That's a bummer.
