Default cp pistons - d-series - ring gaps

What should i set my ring gap to? My setup before was srp's and i had them at .018 top and .021 bottom. Cp didn't list any specs for the rings? they are stock bore 9.0:1 compression. I heard you are suppose to scuff up new pistons. Is this true?

thanks for the thread. I'm going to go with .018 top and .020 for 2nd. Do i need to file down any of the oil rings?

From what i've read, as long as the oil rings do not overlap you should be ok. When we did my friends rings we didn't need to file any of the oil rings.

Hope this helps

i didn't need to file the oil rings. I had to use my je rings for the 2nd ones b/c the cp rings that came with the pistons were too big (.024-.025). All the pistons are done and installed. thanks for ur help on the phone earl :crosses fingers: that everything else will go together w/o any more problems.
