Couple of questions about internal wastegates
I just got a Holset HX25W and I am trying to figure out at what psi the wastegate actuator opens the valve. I hooked it up to my airbrush compressor and according to the gauge, it takes 20psi for it to start opening, and about 25 psi for it to fully open.
Is that an acurate way to determine this or am I way off?
I also would like to know if it is possible to make it open at 10 psi. I don't see how I could do that, but it doesn't hurt asking.
Thanks in advance.
P.S.
My other oprion is to use another wastegate actuator set to 7 or so psi and use a boost controler.

Re: Couple of questions about internal wastegates
Yeah, it will probaly want to make about 23-25psi if you just put it on like that. Is the actuator rod adjustable for preload (threaded end)? That could get you a little less if there is a lot of preload on it now but nothing close to 7psi. Your best bet is to adapt a lower psi actuator from another turbo or aftermarket supplier. Look for or make it adjustable so you can dial it in a little.
