Default Copy Cat of every major manifold...

I was just cruising around and found this guy. Looks like he has ripped off every major manifold design I've every seen for a honda.

Jay has been making Manifolds for a long time so I wouldn't exactly say he's ripping other companies off.His prices are very good and reasonbale for a change and the quality of his manifolds are awesome.I think his usename on here is "Silly Sohc",there are a few others who rock his manifolds on here I'm pretty sure

I wonder how close they are in actual measurements to the manifold he's supposedly 'ripping off.'

It's one thing to take a similar design, modify it to fit you needs and produce it at a cost that you can market. It's a whole different story to blatantly use a design of somebody else.

To me, it LOOKS like he is doing the latter. If he's been around since the day of dirt or since yesterday doesn't matter. If he's using somebody else's exact design, that's screwed up.

SEVERAL people have knocked off the Mini-me manifolds.
I still dont understand why you guys ride my *** for copying, its been 2 years since I quit the SST.

Do we all need to be reminded again that Full-Race didn't invent the ramhorn manifold.

Everyone copies everyone, who cares...

maybe they didn't invent the ramhorn, but they did go out of their way to prove that they work, and brought the concept of using weld els with long runner merges mainstream.

To deny that they have made a signficant impact on the industry as a whole is to deny fact.

And really about copies, I couldn't care less anymore... That was just my little way of trying to be funny at 11 am.

Yep so what. Wal-Mart copies everything yet everyone still goes there. Reason is that you can get **** thats pretty comparable for a much lower price.

If I could get a manifold for half the price thats just as good so what if its a copy.

Can't really knock people from copying.

Its been done for ever, really if it didn't happen, we'd all be paying $1500 or more for a full race manifold cause there would be no other competition. They would almost then, have a monopoly on that part.

Full Race, Tinker, Kooks, no one has any patent rights to these manifolds so anyone is welcome to de-engineer one and make their own.

The consumer (us) actually benefit the most cause competition drives down prices.

Does it really matter? I can see if they are claiming to have invented the damn design, but really - put it in perspective. You think anyone ever complains about how everyone else copied their idea of use roll cage in a car?

And how do you think innovative ideas ever make it the market? Expand or die. The companies that may have a good product should always come up with new ideas, or a stagnant line will kill business. While there is a thing called a pattent, there's no way to prove who designed that type of manifold, or that one is carbon-copy of another due to the confusing science of thermodynamics/fluid dynamics/etc. There IS something called anti-trust/monopoly laws. If they copy the others then collapse the market by flooding in super-inexpensive ripoffs, then you can complain.

Otherwise let people weld what they want.

FYI I have seen some really old versions of what you'd consider mini-eq's and such, albeit not for hondas. Suppose this thing people have against making products that are somewhat similar, yet different, hindered Full-Race or others from trying the design on hondas...we'd be **** up a creek. I don't think carbon copies are right, but I also don't think adding in an extremly high developement cost onto EVERY item, be it the 1st or the 1 billionth made.

I'll also go as far to say that if you don't like such copies, then toss your current manifolds in the trash - all of them. You don't think that the designer of your manifold seriously pulled the idea of a merge collector out of their own head, do you?
