Compression Test 205/200/190/200 .. first cylinder running rich.. HELP!
I bought this setup from someone else.. motor/turbo etc.. well I'm starting to think some of the things they said were there may not be there.. but I could just be paranoid..
supposed to be 84mm JE 9:1 pistons, closed deck, mild port, crower turbo cams, valvesprings, retainers and valves..
I got 205 / 200 / 190 / 200
first spark plug was black the last three seemed fine..
any ideas guys?? I'm about to take this motor apart to figure out what the deal is..
reason I am taking it apart was it was overheating when the temps got up to the 90's...
Thanks in advance..

Change the plugs out then drive and recheck it. Also are you doing a compression test with the motor at full operating temp?

Checking your plugs after drving the car more or less indicates what the car was running like when it was last on. If you are concerned that the car is running rich at higher rpms, you need to shut the car off at the rpm in question, then pull the plug. And that is hella high compression for 9.1. I just rebuild my motor with CP 9.1 pistons with a PR3 head and it was only 190psi... Perhaps look into the whether the injectors are working properly. Also what engine management are you running? Some EMS systems have fuel trim adjustments that are cylinder dependent.

those comporession numbers are fine.
put in new plugs. see if that same one carbons up. if it does. clean them all or put new ones in and swith the injector from that cyl with another one. run it again and if the poroblem follows the injector that is it. if its still the same cyl then its probably an ignition problem on that cyl.

ya they do seem high.. i'm running hondata s100b
and the car was driven before checking the plugs etc... it's just strange that one is black and the other are ok...
i may look into the injectors cuz maybe the resistor box isn't connected right or is lose somewhere..

Autozone gauges are craptastic. 200 is perfect and 180 is nominal
