Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040
This is what i have so far.
Specs Taken from Full-Races webpage
T3/67
Compressor Specifications:
-T04R 67mm compressor wheel with a max flow rate of 75 lb/min
-0.70AR T04S compressor housing
-Good to 650whp
Turbine Specifications:
-stage 5 turbine wheel
-0.63 or 0.82 A/R. turbine housing available
-4 bolt standard turbine discharge
CHRA Specifications:
-360 degree thrust bearing standard, optional 360 deg.
-Oil cooled&lubricated center section.
Questions on the t3/67:
What is the actual trim of the turbo? What is the actual size of a stage 5 t350 wheel?
Specs taken from atpturbo.com
GT3040
Compressor:
-Wheel: 82mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .70 ar
Turbine
-Wheel: 60mm w/ 84 trim
-Housing: .63 ar, .82 ar, 1.06 ar
Specs taken from atpturbo.com
GT35/40r
Compressor
-Wheel: 82mm w/ 56 trim
-Housing: .70 ar
Turbine
-Wheel: 68mm w/ 84 trim
-Housing: .63 ar, .82 ar, 1.06 ar
-Maps
Questions: Can anyone translate these compressor maps?
gt3040
turbine
compressor
gt35r
turbine
compressor
My questions on the whole topic. Each turbo claims to put up to 600hp. Which is gonna have the quickest spool, and which will have the best powerband??
Motor setup:
84.5mm 9.5:1 pistons
ITR stroke
Equal length manifold
edit: Ive read through all the "t3/67 vs gt35r", the opinions are so back and forth, it seems like nobody knows whats going on between the two.
If a gt3040 is almost identical with my setup, then how can a gt35r, which has a larger turbine housing be so comparable also?

myself and mike basically have the same setups
my 9.5:1 vs his 9.0:1

They dyno graphs are scaled differently. The graphs are almost identical.

Re: Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040 (Jordo)
Jordo,
From what I've been researching people are saying that the GT35R is a better matched turbo. When I purchashed mine, the GT35R didn't exisit. Geoff from
full-race and others say the GT35R will spool just as fast as the 3040R if not
faster being the turbine and compressor are more evenly matched. I also believe
the GT35R will make more power. I don't think the 3040R would put down 600whp I'm guessing 550-560whp tops.

Sometime in 03 I believe. At the time Geoff at full race had only sold a handful of GT turbo's. Jordo I you planning on getting one of the 3?

Oh ok, well then the gt35r did exist when you bought your turbo. Vaportrail started dealing them on H-T in 02'.

Well I'm going by what Geoff Told me, unless the GT35R Turbine was not available to him for some reason. The Compressor on my GT3040R is exactly the same the only difference is the turbine. Is vaportrail the one who had a shop in florida who tuned a Silvia with the 3040R?

He got that GT3040R for that car right before mine, wonder why he didn't go GT35R for that car then...things that make you go hmmm......I believe he was building a bad *** civic also, which I purchased my RPS Carbon / Carbon clutch from him.

Re: Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040 (Mikes01GSR)
my friends 240 had a 3040 on it. the car trapped at 127mph on et streets with a street tune. obviously I don't have a dyno # to back it up but I am sure that turbo car do 600whp. his car weighes about 2800-3000lbs and like I said that was a street tune at 24psi.
either way I like the GT35R the way the power bands look. and a BB turbo will always spool faster than a non BB turbo of close to the same specs

Re: Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040 (BoostR41)
Well let me state this, my GT3040R has the .63A/R turbine maybe he has the larger one. Mine might be able to do 600whp but it would be at the very edge of it's efficiency range.

Re: Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040 (SEFIxCivic)
I will say that a certain SFWD car (b18c) made 622whp 499ft.lbs with the GT35R. Its not me so don't ask..lol. I wont say how much boost either. I'll see if I can get the dyno.

Re: Compare t3/67 vs gt35/40r vs gt3040 (Mikes01GSR)
iirc they got the 3040 thinking it was the 35r but dude selling the turbo(Extreme boost) didnt know what he was selling as they were very new at the time. Not much info was availible yet. i have the same turbo as they do/did.
id go for the 35r if spool times would be the same but i imagine some difference in the spool time(slightly longer for the 35r )but i could be wrong.
