Cometic Headgasket and Higher Temperature (not overheating)
So about 1 year or so ago I put a new thicker cometic headgasket on my b16, and then slapped a turbo kit on it. Never really had any problems with it except that the temperature was slightly higher than normal--stock it was 1/3 and after turboing its about 1/2 mark. It doesnt really go up or down... pretty much constant 1/2. I thought it might have been the turbo that was giving me this problem. I have removed the turbo since I wanted to recharge my A/C and get it ready for smog this summer. However, I noticed that it is still about the 1/2 mark. At the time of the turbo install I swapped out the stock fan for an aftermarket one--its a fluidyne fan. The fan never comes on. I've checked the fan it works, swapped sensor out for a new one and also checked the relay under the hood. I dont think its the circuitry for the fan. Even when shorting the sensor and having the fan on, the temperature remains around 1/2.
At this moment, Im thinking its the headgasket and was wondering if anyone is having the same problem. Its not really a problem per se, but I'd just like to see it be slightly cooler.

at the moment off the cluster gauge. That was also one of my thoughts. it might be off simply because of the gauge. Hm... Maybe I'll consider the coolant temp gauge. unfortunately I dont need one and dont have any more spots for one.

Re: (B16Drag)
maybe find someone with a hand held temp guage and check it that way, just aim and shoot.. I dont know what else to say, just make sure the cluster guage dont peg to the H you know.. Could be possable air bubble since you swapped and coolant needs to circ, I dont know

Thought it was the air bubble or something, but I've started it up cold and let it warm up and let it bubble freaken coolant all over the place as well... still no go... I'll see if I can get one of those temperature guns... Anyone else got a bright idea?
