Default Cometic Head Gasket for Turbo?

Sup guys,

I really dont know much about compression with turbo.

Im planning on buying a cometic headgasket (thickness of .043). Supposedly it will lower my compression to 9.68 on my stock motor B18c1 with a drag3 turbo kit.

I guess my only question is if this is a smart idea? I just want more reliability since I cannot afford to build my motor just yet. After I install the headgasket I will be tuning the motor with Hondata 2b and RC 440's.

Also, ca anyone in Bay Area, California install this for me?

Appreciate your time and responses.

-kyle

you should be able to keep the stock headgasket. the drag kits only go to like 7psi, and you can run that much on pretty much any compression. In additon, you have Hondata. Id just get the kit, slap it on, tune and go...250whp is my conservative guess..

What the hell are you talking about "The drag kits only go to about 7 psi". Bull Shizite I run 18 psi with mine. Fully built engine of course. 375 at the wheels.

I think he was talking about only having the WG control boost...then the kit is only like 7psi.

I would like to know about the headgasket as well!!

Well, this may or may not help answer your question, but i'm running a B16A with a .078 Cometic Gasket that lowers me down to 9.2:1 if i'm not mistaken... Anyway, for fuel i'm running 450's, controlled by a ZDyne, with everything else being factory in the fuel system (even pump). On the street daily, i'm boosting around .96 Bar, and at the track, i like to keep it around 1.05 - 1.1... Anyway, this setup is running perfectly fine, with the lone exception of a recent oil pump failure which isn't really related, but it gave me the opportunity to tear the block down and look at any damage, etc., and there was absolutely no damage to pistons, rods (other than the two spun bearings of course... haha). I'm going to be pushing the engine to about 1.3 Bar at the track here shortly, but it has been dyno'd at 1.6 Bar, and the air fuel was right around 11.5-12 all the way to 8300... but it held up just fine (this was before the oil pump failure). All stock, other than the headgasket Don't have the dyno numbers for the 1.6 Bar pass, but at 1.1 Bar, it put down 285 (SAE... 288 non-corrected) to the wheels.

If you have any other specific questions about my setup, feel free to ask... Email is easier to reach me by, or IM....
