Default Choosing a motor for my race car

Which to choose? I have these engines in my possesion:

A b20 with b16 head with the use of a B17 Crankshaft (yes I have the crankshft in my possesion)

or

B18C1

Engine will use the Darton Pro kit for a closed deck, either Pauter custom rods or Crower custom rods, ROSS pistons or JE pistons. Which of these would you use??

Also what tranny should I be using. GSR tranny with LS final drive....stright GSR.....LS with GSR 3rd and 4th gear, or LS with GSR final drive or Stright LS??

Trying to push 500 + to the wheels in a civic EG hatch.

B18C
I have to agree! A sleeved B18C1 will handle the amount of boost you will need to run to produce 500+ whp better than the B20! You may want to consider running the B16A head on the B18C1 block as it flows a little better than the B18C1 head!

if you have the b18c1 use that. bore it to 84 mm. use 9:1 or 9.5:1 pistons. if you don't have a complete stand alone, use 9:1. ross are nice, but the je's are too and are cheaper. sleeve the block. you could use the gsr tranny or gsr/ls hybrid. for the street, the straight gsr would be better. use a search and you'll get everyones opinions.

If I use the B18C1, is it better to run the b16a head. The head is off a 2000 Si. I am planning to bore it 83mm just so that I have a bit of room to play if something was 2 go wrong. This setup will be a stright race car, trailor queen.

If you were to resleeve the B20 then i would say use that with the B17a crank and the B16A head. Almost identicle to the setup I am building now(I am using a GEM sleeved B18B 84.5mm).

O.K. suppose you were running a built B18C1, what size injectors would you suggest if you were running Hondata and up to 25 ps.i.?

TIA

why you only running 1000cc and next year our classes allow for methanol. You are going ot be left behind if you dont switch to that setup. Everyone will be pushing well over 700hp this year when converting to methanol.

Go get a weldon pump, stainless lines twosets of 1600cc injectors and be on your way to making some massive pwr.

B18Bturbo...so which engine would you build?? So you think Methanol is the way to go?? I would want to run in the Hot Rod class in the NHRA series.

I don't know why everyone is pushing b16 heads. Stock the flow better, but not when worked on. When you do head work on a b18c1 cylinder head, it will outflow any worked on b16 or itr head...the high port and combustion chamber shape will make it outflow a b16 head...

Go with the GSR block, resleeved to about 84mm I would say, I would stick with the GSR crank, or even an LS, but I wouldn't see any reason to destroke your motor.. If the NHRA rules allow, what would be awesome would be to sell both motors, go out and get a payn/dart block with the 84mm bore, closed deck, and .550" of extended deck height. Run a b18a crank with a custom long rod setup, some custom pistons, and rev that bitch to 10,000 with a fat turbo, and no worries...Also 700cc injectors are gonna be way too small for 500+horsepower, try 1000-1200cc's if your gonna be pushing your motor hard. On a stand-alone you won't have any problems running those big injectors. Also like someone said, if they legalie methanol you might wanna go that route and get yourself some 1600cc injectors... Good luck on your race car, sounds cool..

BTW: Have you considered Golden Eagle sleeves, I hear nothing but good about them, and I've been hearing some negative feedback on both Darton and about Benson's machine shop.

So im guessing the B18C is the choice that I am going with but which head to use?? B18C or B16A?? The head would be worked on heavily by Portflow.
