Default Checking deck on GE sleeved block to see if its even...what tool to use?

I have been listening to some people on this board and someone suggested to check the deck height to see if its even on the block. It is a GE sleeved block. I can take a straight edge and eyeball it but I know there is a professional way to do it.

the proper way is to use a straight edge then use a feeler gauge to see if it slides under the straight edge. My honda manual is in the garage so if no one posts the feeler size to use ill post it up tomorrow. You want to do this on the back, middle, and front of block. Then do it at a 45 degree angle from the front of block to the back of the block.

Not just a straight edge...its gotta be a flat bar. Stupid things cost like 100 bucks for a chunk of metal thats perfectly straight. Dont try to use like a meter stick or something.

Use a .003 feeler guage with machined flat bar

well I took off my head and.....DAMN I had a great seal around all the cylinders, I mean perfect, perfect compression as well. BUT I figured out I just had a leaky headgasket that let coolant go into the oil passage somehow??? No boost ever saw the motor and it just happened all of a sudden. Kinda weird but, I noticed a buildup off soem bars leak around the #4 cylinder.

It seems the stepping the deck idea is good for sealing but is more prone to headgasket leaking, go figure. Hoping some good copper spray and back to the GE specs again. I am going to try and see if I can check the deck height. Everything was cool though.
