just go ahead and do it and let us know how much it costs to rebuild your motor

it could be done and the motor may last 30k+ but dont count on boosting that high very often and being reliable

build the motor atleast forged rods and pistons and do it right the first time

Piece together your turbo, 12-1 FMU, inline and missing link? But as stated above don't expect to last.

the ls motor has low compression pistions any way. you need forged pistons! i boost 1 bar daily and have been doing so for a year. you need lots of fuel system upgrades, a reliable a/f gauge and great tuning either with a afc or standalone. it will last for a while but not forever.

cheap? get some arp SOHC rod bolts and a good fuel system. i ran 15 psi in my LS for almost 2 years, and never blew the motor. I pulled the motor to put a built ls vtec in, but never had any probs.

Cheap and boost shouldn't be in the same sentence.

I'd listen to him. He's been at this for a while.
It all depends on how well you tune it. Most people don't realize tuning involves everything from sizing your turbo to adjusting your timing. Everything has to be adjusted, and I do mean EVERYTHING...

Cheap? Maybe, Reliable? maybe

most of the time due to an improperly serviced car.

Well for one it was on a poster in the Fast and the Stupid. (on the wall when the supra first gets towed in) But it is actually an old saying that goes back to hotrod days.

when it comes to FI nothing is that cheap specially if you want to be reliable.... i just come with the gain of power....and like the other say... pick two of those.. I seen the quote plenty of time to tell you that pretty much applies to any aspects of upgrading your car...

wtf? I havent seen ONE blown 4g63. Its nearly impossible, the ECU retards ignition drasticly if you even breathe on the knock sensor. Maybe if you tried boosting 20 psi on 87 oct And DSM's arent as bad as you make them out to be reliability wise. You put 500 hp through a b-series tranny thats *magiclly* 4wd and see what happends. Do you realize how much torque is forced to the ground in 1st gear on an AWD car? Crankwalk owns the 2nd gens tho ^^

Word, I now own a 90 model Eagle TSi AWD.....Geez the thing hooks, I haven't been able to break the tires loose. I wish my turbo CRX put the power to the ground that well.

Your all wrong. If you use your BRAIN you can have cheap, fast, and reliable. You just have to think it out. Not to be a *****, but it's true. That old adadge was to keep everyone else from getting into it so they were the only 'COOL' ones with cars. That mas of an organ in your head is what you need to use in order to do anything right the first time. It's the best tool you have, use it. I'd just stick on this board to learn as much as possible.

When I first came into this scene I knew all about turbo's their efficiencies and their down falls, but I have owned quite a few Honda's and had no idea what some people were doing with them. Even going to the tracks across the country seeing all kinds of Honda's everywhere. I still had no idea that this many people were doing so many things with what very little was available. I learned from guys in Florida (mostly Puerto Ricans) what could be done with a little ingenuity. They could spend five hundred dollars on a car and get it into the low teens (12&13). This was in '95 -'96. It's always possible to go faster with the same amount of money. You just have to research more about efficiencies how different things effect efficiency. In the end the smartest guy will always win. You give the smart guy a lot of money he'll be unbeatable...

One word --Ingenuity-- that's all it takes.

If you flame me for what I say then you deserve to get whatever happens to you because of your actions and ignorance. Sorry for preaching I got carried away...
