Default cheap but reliable turbo kit for b16a CRX

i was beaten by a mustang with a 150 shot so now looking into a turbo kit as soon as possible. I have another b16 completely stock to swap in if i have to because mine has CTR pistons. So i was wondering if anyone knew of a site with a good turbo kit for a fair price no intercooler needed already have one in my closet. Any help would be appreciated....

thanks
Jay

how ugly was the race? Just peice together a kit. Most kits come with a intercooler except for the greddy(that i know of). I believe if you peice together it will be cheaper.

the race wasnt that ugly we started at a 65mph roll on the interstate and he pulled me by like 3 car lengths by 110 mph. Bad thing is that i sold my nitrous kit a couple of months back which probably would have kept things even, so now i need a turbo on it to have power at all times instead of refilling a bottle every weekend......

Piecing together a kit would be your cheapest and best option plus you will learn a lot while your doing it. It you want it to be reliable then get some good fuel management and make sure your car is tuned well. If your about DIY and being cheap then checkout turboedit or uberdata for fuel management.

Def piece a kit yourself, one thing I have always heard...three options...
Fast, cheap or reliable...you can only have 2. Good luck though, I am about to finish my 6 month search for my setup!

A wise man on this board once said:

1. Cheap
2. Fast
3. Reliable

You can only have 2 of the 3.

It sounds like you want all 3 and that ain't gonna happen for cheap. So it's 1 and 2 but not 3 or 1 and 3 but not 2.

Also a V8 mustang (i'm assuming an older 5.0) with a 150 shot isn't exactly slow. That is easily a 12 second combination with just a few basic boltons. But a 12 second Honda on street tires takes a bit of work to get - especially on a stock B16 with junkyard turbo kit. Maybe on slicks, but if you expect to beat 12 second cars at any time on street tires you will defintiely have to make some compromises.

Not trying to be negative or a dick or burst your bubble or anything, but you just need to be completely honest with yourself.

Good luck!

Slater is right. V8's on the bottles are a challenge to beat! There is a '02 vette with a 200 shot round here. Just that would be hard to beat.

My custom kit will be fast, cheap, and reliable. What do you guys consider cheap? When I say cheap I mean cheaper than buying any prefab turbo kit.

your turbo kit is only as reliable as its engine managment...dont' skip on that and you'll be fine

Cheap/fast/reliable is possible, but its all relative to what you think cheap, fast, and reliable are.

thanks for all the replies but i think im just gonna finish building my ls/vtec and leave it at that. As far as a turbo'd honda it will come one day because i already have 2 turbocharged cars ( 95 eclipse gst with g bolt swap running a Precision Turbo t3/t4 ar60
56 trim with 28x14x3" fmic from dejohn tool......also running almost same setup with a 20g in a 92 mirage hatchback). I just wanted something for the crx because I guess it was the first time being beat by something that was cheating ( spraying ) .
