Assuming 2 identical manifolds, there won't be any performance difference, and likely you wont have the car long enough to see a difference in reliabilty between a cast iron and cast stainless manifold, but the stainless will sure look alot nicer after a few months. Then again you could just get a cast manifold for less money and have it ceramic coated, which will prevent rust and may spool the turbo faster.

Personally, for me it's more about function than the way it looks. A ductile cast iron turbo manifold will without a doubt out last anything else out there. That is the reason that every oem turbo car has a ductile cast iron manifold.

Tubular designs are getting better, and manifolds like Lovefab and some of the others make great power improvements over cast manifolds and seem to last a relatively long time as well, but i'm still a little leary about a stainless turbo manifold. I'll wait a few years to see how badly they will crack....if they don't...maybe I'll buy one too...

Seems like I have seen plenty of cracked drag and greddy cast manifolds.Aside from the ssac stuff the majority of the tubular ones are pretty reliable.

I thought the reason (or maybe another reason) that all OEM manifolds are cast iron is because they are easier and faster to mass produce, hence less expensive to make. Aren't cast iron manifold made by pouring the iron into a mold. And from the looks of it almost all tubular manis are either hand assembled or maybe use a litte robotic assistance to assemble.

Stainless steel is rust-resistant, not rust-proof. It can still corrode away from elements interacting with it. It's still made out of iron, add some oxygen and you have iron oxide ~ rust.

cracked cast manifold = cant weld/fix

stainless = fixable!

any manifold that cracks = crap!

hehehe, j/k...just wondering though, what types or brands of cast manifolds are more prone to cracking?

Thanks

Not true, cast manifolds can be welded and hold very well if it's done right. I had my 1G Talon stock manifold welded (it had a nasty crack from running lean and hot..previous owner), the weld never broke after 2 years of beating the hell out of the car.

Its cast iron and it is not coated. You would be better off getting it ceremic coated if you didnt wanna worry as much about how shitty it will look 6 months from now.

Send it to a place like this:
http://www.qccoatings.com/contact_us.htm

Expect to pay around $50, or so to have the manifold ceramic coated.
