Car bogging and hesitating really bad...someone help

Ok i have had just about enough of my turbo honda its days are almost over

background

1994 acura integra
b18c1 9:1
t3/t4
450cc injectors
255 lph fuel pump
fuel pressure is at 50psi
uberdata/crome(i have both) chips on p72
had dynoed tuned and ran fine at 280whp
bkr7es at .030
fresh cap and rotor and wires
wideband reads steady when bogging right around 13.5 or so

It all started the other day after beatin on it pretty good it died out and would not start. Figured oh its gotta be the ignitor. Replaced ignitor with new OEM and replaced with used coil which i was told worked fine. Car started and drove fine. Get on the expressway and start driving and it almost feels like it starts missing really bad. Sputtering, and bogging, slowing down. I come to a stop and it just stalls right out. I try to start it back up, it wont start. I put the gas on the floor and start it and it barely makes it. I give it a bunch of revs, let off and it idles perfectly. try and drive it, it goes up in the rpms ok then it feels like it hits a wall, rpms drop and it starts bogging like crazy again.

My question is what could this be?
Could a bad ignition coil cause this much of a problem?
ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

You just described everything Ive experienced for the past 2 weeks and Ive replaced the ignitor as well.

Im at a loss too.

My car turns off after every WOT pull too, it was extremely annoying on the dyno http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

Help us both please

Well I know that this wont be any good news, but this happend to me a about to weeks ago, and Im pretty sure that my rings are toast..... Do a compression test adn find out. The power loss happend to me as well.... Does it do it all the time or can you drive around not in boost and not have any issues?

ebp_dc2 10-08-2005 05:24 PM

its actually better in boost surprising...ocassionally it does bog in boost but for the most part its pretty damn good in boost. As for the compression test 185 on all cylinders

Re: (ebp_dc2)

yeah, my next step is compression check.

Mine too runs fine in boost, its more of 40mph in 4th and I go to accelerate more and its like

ba....bbaaaa....ba.....bab. then goes. Its an experience hard to type out https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

But just an FYI, this happened tonight when coming to a light. The CEL came on and the car turned off when I came to the stop.

I went to check the code, but nothing came up. Im running a Zdyne ECU if that matters https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

If yours throws a code, or if you figure it out, let me know. I subscribed this thread in hopes for an answer https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

ebp_dc2 10-09-2005 08:08 AM

no CEL no nothign thats what makes this so damn frustrating....im gonna check my timing to see if thats a possibility although it should be fine. What are the chances of a bad distributor?

Take the dizzy cap off, how does it look? Dizzy is your next step I would say. Sounds ignition related so just start eliminating parts.

ebp_dc2 10-10-2005 04:37 PM

just put a new cap and rotor on, does a dizzy just "go bad"? I'll be lookin for one so if anyone knows someone with one tell them to pm me

ebp_dc2 10-10-2005 07:44 PM

come on FI guys the integra guys are doin way better than you https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Re: (ebp_dc2)

A buddy of mine with an LS swapped hatch is having the same problems, so I dont even think its related to anything turbo.

I did, however, pull the sensor from the intake manifold and saw that it was covered in soot and grime. I wiped it off but it still looked burnt so I swapped it out with a new one. I havent driven my car long enough since then to notice anything, but maybe you should check yours.

Also, have you noticed that the bogging only happens when the car is warmed up? My car runs like a top when its cold, but as soon as its up to normal operating heat, it bogs and sputters randomly

teddy_dc2 10-11-2005 07:54 PM

my gsr was doing the same thing but in winter when i din't let the motor heat up, it would drive fine until like 25krpm or 3krpm then boom, it feels like it hit something, gun the gas and it would studder, clutch - rev it and goes but then again, boom. i though to was the tranny.

ebp_dc2 10-12-2005 01:59 PM

what did the problem turn out to to be?

Re: (ebp_dc2)

guys i'm having a similar problem but i think it might be vacuum related have you guys checked yours,i found that the vacuum hose that connects to the tb was almost all the way off and it was making it bog real bad to where the car would turn off maybe you guys check yours

ebp_dc2 10-12-2005 05:00 PM

ill have to dot that..i have a boost gauge and the vacuum is reading fine, maybe i have a loose vacuum line though

teddy_dc2 10-12-2005 05:39 PM

i don't know what the pronlem was but it's hasn't happen since. it wasn't the tranny.

Get a fuel pressure gauge on it and watch it while you drive! See if anything looks 'weird' when the car is bogging or stalling.
