Can you "convert" AN-12 to NPT? Would it leak if i re-tap?
Guys, I'm in the process of going FI, and currently trying to get the oil pressure/temp senders mounted.
I got this eBay adapter a long while back... the AN-12 fittings is kind of way too big and I couldn't find any reinforced rubber hose to fit in.
So I'm trying to convert this AN fitting to brass NPT.
According to the measurement of the following picture, this should be AN-12 right?
Which mean I would need 3/4-14 NPT correct? Then I just need to re-tap the threads...
Anyone know where I can buy brass barb fittings that big?
Checked Rona but they don't have it. Also would it leak if i re-tap the thead?
Telfon tape should be more than enough to secure it right?
PS: When mounting the sending unit, do you have it pointing UP? or down?

I'm sure you can buy an AN reducer that's also an o-ring port to flare adapter. And, you don't have to use steel braided hose when you use AN hose ends. You can use the push-lock hose, but for oil supply lines, I would use steel braided lines.

Don't try and retap the threads it'll make a mess of it. You can get all sorts of AN/NTP adapters. Just turn those ends out and put different ends in. Check you favorite speed shop. I like summitracing.com but others have the pieces too.

The port is likely already 3/4 NPT.
Measure the port (not the AN fitting) or ask the original vendor.
Once you confirm what the port is order a NPT to hose barb fitting.
There is no need to retap anything if you buy the correct fitting.
I use Summit Racing for all my fittings.
Do not use teflon tape on AN fittings.
Use teflon tape on NPT fittings.
Do not over tighten.
You can clock the oil adapter any way you want bc the oil is pressurized.
