Can someone help me design my fuel system?
So far I have a Walbro intank> stock lines> -6 from the stock filter to AEM rail> 1000cc injectors> AEM FPR> stock return. Run by Hondata. I am looking for 550-600whp with this setup. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Everything is pretty much finished but this is an area that has always been fuzzy to me. Some swear by all aftermarket parts where as others seem to have great success with the stock components. I just want to know what works and what is an absolute must.

Back up...I still haven't decided what to do. I am now thinking -8 to the rail and -6 for the return. If I go with an external pump do I have to sump the tank or can I run it from the stock feed location and/or the drain? Also does anyone know of any place to get a good deal on an external pump and filter? Thanks

-8an is standard for the aeromotive feed setup. -6 return.
I'm going to start w/ -6 feed for now and see how it does w/ the aeromotive pump and GE rail and SX fpr. -6 is a little bigger than stock and stock has been known to handle 450-550hp so I'm figuring that I should have no problem making 300-400 w/ my setup.

Thanks guys. Do I need to sump the tank with the Aeromotive pump or can I do it like I described above?

If you're willing to pay the big bucks for the aeromotive fuel pump then spend the extra $60 and get a sump and have it done right the first time! I've heard fuel starvation issues if you use the stock drain location or the factory feed location.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Is there an alternative to spending that much on a pump? How are the MSD pumps? Have any pump suggestions?

you can use a bosch pump which is works well or you can check some of the other manufactures of pumps.
i know the jaguar pump is strong as well large as bosch good for 500hp +

it's the little welded wedge shape oil pan of sorts that the feed line is attached to. It provides a spot in the fuel tank that will always have fuel in it no matter how low on gas you are. courtesy of NRG Tech!

I have the same sump, my only regret was not reducing the height of the sump. I have not had any issues of ground contact but I would feel better if the sump only reached down 2/3 of the original set-up. I'd also reduce the bung angle to make sure the fittings would never drop below the level of the tank...impact protection.
I'm also running a sumped tank, 10AN feed to pre-filter and Aeromotive pump, 8AN feed to filter and rail, Aeromotive fpr, 6AN return to tank. Overkill perhaps but I'll never need to upgrade.

i run a aeromotive pump, but i made a custom sump that drops in stock location seems to work fine. it has a -10 feed to my double fuel rails and then to my aeromotive fpr that has dual -6 returns and -6 to the sump again.

i'm just starting to learn about fuel upgrades:
when someone says "-8 to the rail" they don't just mean upgrading the line from the fuel filter to the rail, right? b/c isn't that only the tail end of the fuel path. Wouldn't you have to upgrade all the way from the fuel pump itself for it to be effective?
Also, do the fuel feed and the return both run under the car, the feed coming from the pump and the return going to the tank?
TIA,
ROB

When he says 8 to the rail, he means from the sump to the filter to the pump directly to the rail. The way mines set up, i have my sump set up with a -10 to the filter, then the filter connects to the -8 pump, and the -8 pump goes to the rail, and a -6 all the way back to the return. Everythng is ran and mounted underneath the car, ill post pics once we-todd decides to work again

Re: Can someone help me design my fuel system? (sol2nr)
when someone says -8 to the rail, they mean from the tank to the rail. (Well not really because there's a piece of -10 from the tank to the pump and then the rest is -8) Yes, all the lines are run under the car, where the stock lines used to be. (Stock lines should be removed to make it easier)
So basically looks like this
(-------------------------------------Rear of car-------)------Front of car
tank---> sump --> -10 line --> pump --> filter --> -8 line ---> rail.
