can i run a N/A cam on a turbo'd car?
im looking to buy a crower cam for my y8 but its for a N/A car... i was woundering if i would gain or lose power if i ran this cam in my car and if its a good idea to run it on a FI car???... i have a d16y8 with turbo... the cam is a crower stage 2 63442...

Not worth it. Turbos don't like a ton of overlap, and most N/A cams have a ton of it. You will probably make more power by just sticking to your stock cam.

You can do it, but as said previously the overlap will hurt your performance. You'd be very lucky to keep what power you have; more than likely you'll lose power.

i have the zex 59300 cam and it works great for my car with boost.....higher lift than the crower turbo cam and less duration than it too...almost as if zex designed it for FI setup...i dyno'd 205whp so somethin worked out good.....boost and the top end of that cam work great together i think.....just a suggestion

I personally believe stock cams are best for turbo, unless the cams are specified down to the "T" for your complete setup. That just my opinion.

Thats true boost doesn't like a lot of over lap, but I disagree about NA cams not being worth it. I have Skunk stage 2 cams that are going to be used with my boosted motor. The difference is I'm using cam gears to dial out most of the over lap.
If you still think its useless then read the January issuse of HCI on the 650hp Boosted motor build up.
