Can I run 400 whp with this set up?
I'm having my engine rebuilt since I blew out a thrust bearing. I'm gonna try to shoot for 400 whp when it's all back together, but I'd like to know if I'll be capabable of making that power with the set up I have right now. If not, what should I get?
B18b motor and head
J.E 9:0.1 pistons
Eagle H beam rods
Turbonetics log mani
.42, .48, or .57 turbo. ( messed up my turbonetics, and bought a garret .42 turbo but I'm not sure it's big enough, I want to be able to hit my 400 whp but be able to hit full boost relitivley quickly)
I have 550 cc injectors, but I'm gonna get something bigger, just depends on what I find for whatever price
Hondata s200b
I have an ACT clutch but I bought it along time ago and have forgotton which one I went with, but if I remember correctly it can hold up to 348 ft/lbs of torque. I don't think I'll be making 348 torque at around 400whp, but i"m not sure.
2.25 inch DP to full 3 inch exhaust.
I probably have a few other things that I've forgotton about. (My cars been out of commission for about 6 months or so and I can't remember every small thing I've done.)
My main concerns on the set up is the log mani, .42 trim turbo i bought the 2.25 inch downpipe, and the clutch. I'm pretty sure the clutch will be ok, but I know the mani and downpipe are gonna be pretty restrictive and the turbo may be to small. What do you guys think. On my old setup I was running 15 psi which got me 308 whp and 280 wtq. I THINK I was using a .57 trim turbonetics on that aswell. I'm gonna shoot for around 25-30 psi which should put me around 400 whp if you get about 10whp per 1 psi, but with my set up I'm not sure it would make that, or if the turbo can blow that. Any opinions. Thanks, Ramsey.

Man U FTW
With a 57 trim, you'll hit your goal of 400whp with around 15-17psi depending on the efficiency of your setup. Also, dont think you're going to push 25-30psi out of it and make any power...thats well beyond the efficiency of the turbo. Not to mention, if it was efficient at that point, you'd be into the 500whp range.

Re: (Schister66)
I was at 15 psi with my last turbo which I believe was a .57 trim and I was only at 308 whp. Now I could be wrong on the trim that was in there but I think it was. Do you think the mani and DP are going to be a big problem?

Yes, they will be restrictive. It going to be pretty tough to hit 400whp. I would get a 3" DP and a ramhorn manifold.

If you want to hit your goal of 400whp trash the ls head and go lsvtec along with a better flowing manifold and at least 3in dp and exhaust. That should get you there at around 18psi or so.

I have a vtec head, but I don't wanna use it because doing this build will cost me a good deal right now, and I don't have the additional funds at this point, but I plan to later. About were would you see my horsepower with the set up right now?
