Can I replace my Crower rod bolts with ARP bolts?
Does ARP make a rod bolt that could replace the bolts that come with Crower rods?
I ask because I bought my rods used and I think some of the bolts are bad. I finished torqueing three bolts to spec (24lbs) and they only needed about 4 additional ft-lbs reach stretch spec (.0055).
But on the fourth bolt, it barely stretched at all at 24 ft-lbs (.0025). I've got that sucker up to 32 ft-lbs, and the strech is only .004. So I think It's bad and now I'm scared. I figure I'll just buy all new bolts to quell my paranoia.
But new bolts from Crower costs about $100 after shipping. That's pretty outrageous considering I only paid $200 for the rods to begin with. Isn't there an ARP equivalent I can use?

you should email ARP with the crower rod part number and maybe they can cross reference a rod bolt part number for you.
if they are the same size as the Eagle rods 5/16" ARP 2000 rod bolts i purchased a replacement set from endyn for "about" 60-65 bucks. i cant remember the exact price but it was not that expensive.

Well now there's another problem - I can't find the part number for the Crower bolts. Mine are 5/16" diameter and 1.85" long.
But the only 5/16" H-11 bolts in the Crower PDF catalog are 1.5" long. What's the deal?

Figured it out - when you measure a rod bolt, you don't count the head as part of the length

So ARP offers two different choices of 5/16" rod bolts.
Choice #1: 826something steel: $218 for a set of 8.
Choice #2: ARP3.5 steel: $308 for a set of 8.
Given that I was getting raped no matter what, I decided to just bend over for Crower. I just placed my order - $101.25 for 8 measly bolts. My anus is going to hurt for months after this one.
