Default Can I make 400hp on pump gas w/ high compression?

I know you have heard this question time and time again. But I have searched but came up nothing that is in the same category. Im trying to get 400hp. First off I have a: fully built GSR 83mm w/10:1 cr, built head w/ CTR cams, edelbrock man. and just about more stuff then the law will allow! I had a custom Rev Hard kit w/ a SC34 and a 30x8x3.5 FMIC. Now I have some new upgrades. Neukin man, 3" DP, 3" exhaust and a SC61. Can my goal be achieved on pump gas (93 octane) and last longer then a week?
If you have done this drop me your .02$ or is my compression going to be my down fall?

Yes... just be careful with your ignition values.

I dont see why not. I mean I have a stock GSR block running 11psi=315whp. Lasted about a year before the rindlands gave in. Now..with my new bottom end...
I hope to get around 400+ with pump gas. That's more than I need.

EASY, Imo. You have the prime motor to do that with too (once again, IMO). 10:1 should be fun.

I was able to run about 15 psi on my 10:1 motor, so that should take you to 400 WHP with an SC61.

What turbo was you using?

You all say that it can be done but; Im just wondering will it be pushing it? I'll be taking it down to Dallas to let Tony1 tune it once again. I know Tony1 likes to tune for reliability not Numbers! That's why I like his work.

The only problem seems to be the compression. It's not a problem really it just requires a GOOD tuner (hell I wouldn't even touch that). If he retards the ignition too much you won't make good power and you EGT's may be too high. minimum best timing is harder to reach on high comrpession motors because the margin between good power and detonation is not wide at all. A simple bad tank of gas, a cold day on warm tune, a hot engine, etc will lead to detonation. So it's up to the tuner to make it safe yet not run excessive retard. That's all. Tony1 has done some good cars and from what I've seen on H-T he is pretty good so I would trust him. DO IT and GL

edit: I would touch that....it's only 10.1 compression. For some reason I tought it was like 11 to 1 . You are fine

I run GSR, 10:1 CR, 348whp/325tq @ 10psi t3/t4e .60/.48, 3.0 dp and exhaust, fully built, FR ramhorn, hondata

I'm almost at 400whp at only 10psi. I'll hit 400 no problem with pump gas!!

why the SC63? The SC61 is only rated about 30hp less and not so laggy.

10:1 isnt that high. There was an article in Import Racer last year with an integra with a b16 Head 10:1 Comp ratio (with rods/pistons) and some minor head work. He was putting down 500. I am pretty sure that was on Pump gas...

I will be running 11:1 Compression when I turbo my beast.

Ok, how bout this one, who has actually done it and not had any problems long term? 11:1 is dumb on pump gas, you'll be very limited by octane. 10:1 is fine, though 400whp on pump is about as far as i'd recommend going. Whatever car that was in a mag, MAY have done 500whp on 93 octane, but not for any length of time at all. I've made 470whp on 91 octane, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to make big power on pump gas then 9:1 is the best compression for all around performance.

so....?

that only means it takes less boost on the 67 than it will with a smaller one. compression will not like a big turbo better than a small one.....
