Can I Hit 400whp on Pump gas ?
After looking at all these dynos, Im getting really excited, but my goal is to get at least 400whp On 94 Octane. How many pounds of boost will I need to run to get it with all my mods, and on pump gas, im thinking 15psi ? Here are my mods :
H22A4
Port/Polished Head
Crower Turbo Cams
Crower Valvesprings
Crower Retainers
Arias 10:1 Pistons
Crower Rods
Balance and Polished Crank
Golden Eagle Sleeves
Turbonetics T3/T04E Ball Bearing Stage III Turbine, 60 Trim, .82 a/r, .60 a/r
Revhard Log Manifold
Tial 40mm
AEM Pulleys
2.5" Revhard downpipe
3" Custom Downpipe back, no cat, Apexi 3" Turbo N1 Muffler
AEM EMS
Apexi AVC-R
Spearco 24.6.5x3.5 Intercooler...
What do you guys think ?

id go w/ 9:1 compression since u r concerned w/ making power on pump gas.

well i can run 15psi on 94 octane with 10:1 pistons, so which would you prefer, 15psi on 10:1 or 9:1...the higher compression will make more hp...

I would prefer 18psi on 9:1 w/ 94 octane.

Re: Can I Hit 400whp on Pump gas ? (C-Redrum)
I found this graph online awhile ago and I cant remember the original link so I just had it hosted so I could show it to u. the #'s in the middle represent the effective compression ratio. On most motors 18:1 effective compression is the most that can be run on pump gas(93 octane). some a little more some a little less depending on head design and other factors.
Im not telling u to go and get a headgasket to lower ur compression just cause u can run more boost, ultimatly its ur decision. but in an octane limited enviorment I would choose the low compression over the high cause in the end u can make more power w/ more boost at equal octane.
Consider both ways of doing things and then decide what u want. higher compression will yeild u more low end grunt w/ quicker spool and create more efficient power at less boost. lower compression will allow u to run more boost and timing and make more total power at given octane level.
maybe u should just run 10:1 and be happy w/ whatever #'s u make on pump and then run race gas when u need more boost.

Re: Can I Hit 400whp on Pump gas ? (C-Redrum)
yes i know i will have access to race gas, but i run my car on the street all the time (i know i shouldnt) and dont like to change my settings. I read somewhere about not being able to use a cometic gasket with a golden eagle sleeved block. I think 400 will be accessable on 15psi though with 10:1 pistons...

Can I Hit 400whp on Pump gas ? ............What do you guys think ?
yes, but its not a matter of can you, just....how long will it last?? that is a question that i don't think anyone here can answer. i haven't seen anyone running 400+ on 93 octane only daily. theres a few trying it out, but a few months doesn't count......only time will tell.
with the right fuel/engine management/tuner you might have a shot.

You might need some methanol/water injection to help reach that goal.
