Can it handle it
So I've got a 1991 Honda Civic Si with an a6 bottom and a z6 head approximately 140000 on the block. not sure about the head. My friend has a t3 turbo he said he would let me use. He said it would more than likely be fine if i ran it at just 6 psi for starters. Another friend of mine says its gonna blow "since the engine isn't built to handle a turbo" What do you guys think.

Thats questions is to braud what kind of shape is your motor in. plentyl of people turbo there stock motors but thats a lot of miles. Run sosme tests first

Re: Can it handle it (91civicsikid)
if you would do a search i bet you would have an anwser to your question, but anyway do a compression and leakdown test to see if the motor is healthy enough for boost
|
do a compression and leakdown test.... if everything checks out then I would slap that turbo on there. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that you use a proper fuel management system.

Re: Can it handle it (H.A.R.T B18C1EG6)
its gona be good at 6 psi, i ran 6 psi on my a6/z6 combo and it ran well, but if u want to run 10 u will need to get a really good tune arent minimes good for 10.5:1 Cr?
|
cool. I will do the tests soon.

psi is irrelevant. its how much power he is going to make and the quality of the tune that is going to determine how long his engine is going to last. |

what is a proper fuel managment system? |
Re: Can it handle it (91civicsikid)
there are alot to chooses from, talk to your local tuner and find out what he is most comfortable tuning with.
|
well i mean what does it do
|
Re: (91civicsikid)
It regulates and manages your fuel delivery Meaning it will supply your motor with enought fuel to match your hp / boost levels, it also will allow you to tune and change things assocated with fuel, Again Do a search man you will be able to find all this some were on here. Most people here will be more than happy to help as long as you do some homework meaning searching. Get something like crome, hondata, ectune. They are full engine managent systems they will allow you to control the whole car fuel, idle, timeing, ect. And DONT BE STUPID get tuned and dont skimp out on fuel and engine managment.

Time to read the FAQ's. They are at the top of this forum. You will find a LOT of answers to your questions........ |
Re: Can it handle it (91civicsikid)
I wouldn't say can IT handle it I would say can YOU handle it. You just asked a basic question that could have been answered by reading the sticky's. I hope this isn't your DD so when shit happens you have time to wait for people to answer your thread =/

Re: Can it handle it (94delslo)
94delslo:
i didnt say anythign about a certain psi limiting his engine longetivity. I did say he needed a good tune at higher boost levels, the minime is a high compression motor and doesnt give much room to work with. congratulations for using a statement ive heard maybe 50000x on the internet already. are you saying this form knowledge or experience? you probably read this statement somehwere on this or another forum and swear by it like its your religion. are you saying i can run 50 psi on my sohc but only make 300whp, it will last a long time? Be realistic. Modified by CRXdan at 3:55 AM 7/16/2008 |
