Can any one tell me about this Turbo?
well i picked up this turbo from my teacher for $20. bucks and i dont really know much about it the only noticeable writing on it is "Air Research"........... I was watching TV one day and saw on the show Trucks and they had a Turbo Supercharged 2-stroke diesel engine on the show the i think thats what this turbo came off of.
so if anyone here could help me and finding out some info on this turbo i would like to rebuild it to maybe use or to sell. Thanks
I just found this on a friends myspace page its a pic of the supercharger and the plate that the turbo mounts onto

That looks fitting for a stock internal D series
You should pull the compressor and turbine housings off, borrow a micrometer and measure the wheels in order to get an idea of what kind of monster it is....if nothing else, its a nice $20 paperweight

I had intended it as such, but you're only limited by your imagination...and in this case, patience. I'm sure it would spool eventually, but it would not have a fun powerband.

that's a big turbo. yeah back in the days big rigs used this system, turbo going into supercharger. technology has changed and they don't use this kind of system anymore.

your not gonna spool that with a d series dude lol.
best bet would be to call up garrett and give them the serial number on that tag. measure the wheels also with some vernier's.

blasphemy
That beast looks a lot better after you cleaned it up. I hope you took the housings off before you sandblasted them

its obviously form something rather large, as in like a tractor/military vehicle/ LARGE towing vehicle. it does however look like some of the setups used in military heavy equipment recovery vehicles, low RPMs HIGH tq output motors, and they were definetley diesels.
the AR housing for the exhaust is enormous and from the first shot looks to have "diesly" exhaust residue in it
