Camshaft upgrade and turbo selection
ok so I was just gonna PM Mac and ask, but I figure it'd be better to post up the question for all to see,
I have 2 cars at the moment, a Drag car with CTR cams and +1mm oversized valves and a precision 6262
and another integra im building for myself as a daily, with no turbo or cam selected yet.
So my thought is, I can either take the CTR cams off the drag car and put them into the daily, and then size it with either a silver surfer or a precision 5858 (not sure which is better)
then which cams would I get for the drag car?
Whats a good upgrade over CTR but are compatible with +1mm over valves?
tuner1's are my best choice yes?
or do I just not **** around with anything and just use GSR or another set of ITR cams in the daily,
also any comparisons on the silver surfer ball bearing vs a 5858 billet ballbearing
the goal for the daily is 450whp, never need to go any higher

Well I can tell you that you will need to provide a little more info about the drag car setup.
What is the WHP goal for the drag car?
What gear box are you using?
What valve train and bottom end modifications have been made if any?
These answers will help to really zoom in on the most suited camshaft for the drag car. The rev limit or ability of the engine to rev safely at a certain rpm range will help guide the camshaft choice.

Re: Camshaft upgrade and turbo selection
the WHP goal is just whatever the 6262 max's out at,
im more concerned about what is the most aggressive cam I can go with, providing I have +1mm over valves.
Sleeved 84mm, turbo tuffs, CP's, crower valvetrain, im revving to 9 right now.
I know the crower valvetrain wont support pro 1's but will support tuner 1's,
but I cant run pro 1's anyway because of the oversized valves.
ok what im really saying is would it be worth upgrading to tuner 1's on the drag car, or should I just get another set of CTR for the daily.

In my opinion if you CAN get another set of the CTR cams go for it. They will be easier to work with since you can just "drop them in" the specs for the tuner 1s are pretty close to the ctr (if I remember correctly) so having to go through the method to correctly dail in the tuner 1s for what could be a minimal gain. .... I wouldn't do it.
Maybe trying some adjustable cam gears and changing the overlap settings to adjust the power band may be helpful.
Maxing out the 6262 may be somewhere in the 600+whp range
These are my opinions and I am certain others will disagree or have other advice to offer.

Re: Camshaft upgrade and turbo selection
Depending what exhaust housing you have on that 6262 it will max out around 725-750 whp with the right fuel and tune.
Tuner1's will help overall vs any itr cams and should suit your drag car nicely. Unless you plan on upgrading valve springs then stick with something like that. 1mm oversize valves will work if you degree the cams for the proper valve clearence and overlap

its an .82 housing,
ya thats another thing, I dont wanna take the head off and measure valve to valve n **** with feeler gauges for like a week to make pro 1's fit,
tuner 1's have a 0 centerline correct?

Just because they have a stock CL doesn't mean its actually that.
Who's smart idea was it to go OS on both sides? I've designed some camshafts for guys who go OS on intake, stock size on exh.. and have had some good success.. but going OS on both sides, is pretty stupid to be honest, specially if you don't plan on checking clearances.
I recommend going to something more tailored to your setup, I pmed you.

Re: Camshaft upgrade and turbo selection
On the silver surfer vs 5858 discussion...here's a dyno graph of my car when it had ITR cams, JB 5858, e85, and on 20psi. It saw full boost right at 5k. Power held out until 9200 but I told them to stop the pull at 8500. In my opinion, I think you could go with something smaller to reach your 450whp goal and have a little more response.

That's when it spun on the dyno right away then started to hook up. Told them to keep it on there because it looks neat. Lol
