Re: Calling All Turboed Automatics!
I have had experience with two in my time... a DA and a DC2. Both were LS engines with automatic transmissions; basic Ebay type turbo kits making 235 WHP and 220 lbs/ft of torque. Both experienced transmission slipping and ultimately failure within 3 months. The DC replaced the transmission/torque converter and suffered the same failure again four months later.
So if you can solve the transmission shortcomings, you will have an interesting vehicle. One significant positive of how these two cars accelerated was that the turbo's remained under load at all times at WOT... so there was essentially no loss of boost during shifts.

Re: Calling All Turboed Automatics!
One thing ive noticed is that the newer style automatic transmissions, especially in the integra's seem to be built like they are made of glass. Friend of mine with a JRSC automatic teg has blown 2 transmissions so far, none of them were ever built up, but they explode with a relative quickness. The first one went and actually started pissing out of the input shaft which I thought was interesting. Ive never experienced any issues like that, but the OBD1 transmissions are built slightly different, mainly in the fact that they ramp up transmission line pressure alot differently.
My original transmission lasted 2 years of intense abuse on 9psi with the supercharger, and was fine when I pulled it out, and this built transmission with the upgraded TC I had done (which is also from a SIR-G) has withstood alot of abuse as well.

all you want to hear is FMU and missing link bullshit. Just save yourself the trouble and throw a grenade into the engine compartment and walk away from it.

guys, anything over stock power will overheat/slip these things. there was a guy somewhere here that bumped the line pressure, big trans cooler, and changed the converter and it still failed after a few months around 250-300hp. just swap the trans and be done with it.
