Busted through Oil Pump.. Opinions?
Sooo... I was just finishing up the porting job I did on my new Z6 pump when... oops.. busted through the side of it.
I'm thinking about just having someone weld in some material and then smooth it out again... but I also have 2 stock used pumps that I could just port and check that they're within specs...
opinions?

Might want to just see how the clearance is with the new gear in one of your old housings? Then you can start over. To me if that area was that thin from the get go though, be careful with how much you are porting it. And if you weld the inside, maybe weld the outside to beef up that thin area.

That's what I'm thinking... it's a good excuse to find a good welder I have a couple things I want to get welded but don't HAVE to.
I'm going to mod my V/C a little and my intake manifold a bunch.
Any other input is welcome.

After you put all that work into it....just have it welded up and go. couldnt be more then $30-40 bucks to have it welded.

I'm going to see if I can find a good welder around and get their opinion... like I said I have 2 other housings I can swap the new gear, springs, etc into and just port those out.
I've already back filled the hex nut area and everything and ported the rest of it nicely so I'd rather just have it fixed.
And again it's a good opportunity to get some other things welded. I want to trim off some nipples from my y8 intake manifold and have them filled and have a IAT flange welded to the back of it like the stock location for the z6.
We'll see what the welder says.
