Default Built Motors: How much did u end up spending?

Hey All,

Just trying to determine what the average cost of building a motor is, both sleeved and unsleeved. I cant afford to do either, but I need to do one or the other as my compression is starting to get a bit low. I know most people say sleeve it and then u wont have to worry about it, but the stock sleeves have seen some amazing numbers from people, and I really dont know if its even needed with my smaller HP goals. However, depending on the cost of just rods, pistons, and assembly, it may be worth it to get a already sleeved block from someone who never got a chance to use it and ends up selling it. So, how much did u spend on ur build, and what did it entail?

Guaranteed your best bet is to buy a block/motor already assembled by someone that needs money.

I picked up my head worth over $2000 for $435 shipped

Time helps for scoping deals as well, DIY saves a **** load

Even if you can't find a pre-built I just shopped around for a block that was newly sleeved but never ran. I picked up an AEBS GSR block for $1100. The sleeves usually cost that much so I pretty much got the block for free. There are deals out there and you just have to pick up on each one or else you'll end up spening over 5k. I dont really want to think about how much money is going into my bottom end
