Icon6 b20 vtec turbo compression problems

ok i have a b20b gsr semi built head and t3/4 turbo pushing 10psi.

heres what is going on. i bought the car and it had ok compression around 185.
then i started seeing smoke some did another test and they came in
#1 75
#2 100
#3 105
#4 100

so i said to myself do a headgasket because it would run hot comming up hills. so i replaced the head gasket. did another compression check and
#1 80
#2 115
#3 120
#4 90

so at this point im pissed off seeing that it wasnt the gasket. so i read up on things and found that a i should test my rings. so i bought a leak down tester and could hear air excaping from the block so hey its my rings.
so i replaced my rings last week. did a whole rebuild had the machine shop hone the cylinders and mirco polish the crank.

got the car running and did another compression test.

#1 120
#2 125
#3 115
#4 90

but im not getting any smoke like i used to. so where do i go from here? im stumpped and pissed off.

and they are stock cast pistons. i looked at them and didnt see anything wrong. but i didnt go over it with a fine tooth comb.

how about valve seals? they should have checked the head to see if it was sealing. another thing, are you doing your compression test with your throttle wide open?

read that ^^

the way i did it was bent feller gauges on an angle so i could stick them between the valve and the bottom of the rocker that has te adjuster on it. then use a deep socket and hold it with vise grips and break it loose/ adjust it with a screwdriver

well if ur valves aren't sealing then you're losing compressing through them. esp if u have new rings.

i didnt know its almost as easy to do valve adjustment on a dohc as a sohc just need to bend up a 10mm wrench. could i see smoke out the exhaust if the valves are out of adjustment?

ok took a break from the car but now im back in the garage. i did a valve adjustment and a leak down test. after the valve adjustment i redid the compression test and this is what i came up with.

#1=120
#2=160
#3=160
#4=150
i should still be higher than that right

did you copper spray the HG?
Copper spraying an MLS gasket is the wrong thing to do. It keeps the nitrile coating from sealing the motor

its not good on mls gaskets.. That black stuff on both sides is a rubber coating that helps the gasket seal, spraying that copper spray **** on it isnt a good thing

I searched forms and read that there is mixed opinions about using it and no real data to take sides. So I used it. Next time I might just not use anything.
