Default Built D16 pics, new motor build up

Well just thought I would post up some pics of my new build.

My dad and I built the assembled the motor in my garage, and everything is running strong, it has 250 miles on it, a few more and I can start getting into it some more. But running good on the break in.

D16Y7 block, machined by nonvtec, thanks $0 for machining and $50 for block
-Vitara Pistons $123
-Crower I-beam Rods $150
-ACL bearings $80
-ARP headstuds $100
-New water pump $58
-New timing belt $28 or so
-ETC

D16Y8 Head, pretty much stock, adjusted the valves and planed it and threw it on.

Turbo setup
-BMC race Log manifold $160
-Super 16G exhaust housing, 16G exhaust wheel/ Big 16G intake housing, Big 16G wheel all bolted up to a regular 16G housing, with some custom modifications.

- super 16g housing $35
- center section Free from a junk turbo
- big 16g wheel and compressor housing $100

- Custom 2.5" DP, into 2.5" exhaust and flex section. $24 for piping
-5" JRC intercooler - Traded an ecu for it
- 1G DSM BOV - $0
-DSM 450s $0
-Uberdata of course $0
-PLX M300 $250
-FPR $0
-AEM rail $25
-ETC

Now to the pics, don't hate on the DP just yet, still needs some gridning and some rewelding around the outlet flange, but it works for now.

just thought I would share. I clocked the turbo 180 degrees and made a mount for the WG, not pretty but works.

It is running good, haven't really got on it too much, but i had it to around 7 or so for a little and it felt very good. Haven't really taken it above 5K yet. I am going to max the vitaras out, I just want to see what they can make. Eventually just going to run 15 or so on the street and just see what happens on the dyno I guess.

FJT are you dynoing with your new turbo?

I re built the turbo...so it will be the same turbo..This time i will up the boost and tune at 20 PSI if the DSM injectors dont max out.

Probably the tune will be 20 PSI on pump gas for the track and 15-16PSI for the street.. AT 15-16PSI she should have around 250whp so i think that would be enough for the street.

anyways i dont think my turbo's efficiency will be good past 16-18PSIs

Nice to see another Vitara user!

Looks like a nice setup. Let us know how much power you end up making!

Good luck

It is open untill you get to around the power steering area, then it is a pain in the ***. HAHA.

But power wise I want 250 for the street and 280-300 for track and dyno, but we will see what happens, and how things go.

Nice job. I am sure you will reach your goals. Although it looks like your setup will defintely be maxed out around 300whp with those injectors, intercooler, pistons, and maybe the turbo? (not sure how much power you can get out of that). I would rather build an engine for more horsepower and then just turn the boost down, but that's me.

ok, now look at how much this build cost me, then question the parts used

I have 550 injectors just incase, the intercooler will be just fine around 270, the pistons are questionable, and the turbo is a hybrid, my guess is it will be good to around 380-400, it isn't your average 16G.

Oh, and I paid $150 for the crower I-beams, so that is why, tell me you would pass up that deal..

With the turbo deal, it is kinda hard to explain, me and my dad made a hybrid turbo out of some parts you can put together. The Big 16G intake wheel and compressor housing is good to around 380, and the super 16g is good to around 400+, so my guess is between 380-400 ( which I will never hit)... I am not shooting for anything over 290-300, and if I get that I will be happy. Big horsepower isn't anything, I would rather have a car that has a nice powerband.

^That's what I'm saying to everyone too...fawk top end power only, when you can rip on there asses from start and keep going strong to redline...

Finding the right size turbo to cover your whole power band is the key....3k-redline

I wish I had boost at 3K, haha, I get full boost at like 4500 or so. The A/R on the super 16g is kinda big
