Default Building turbo Y8. Reccomendations on turbo size needed

Going to be building my third boosted D setup. This time its SRP pistons/eagle rods instead of the Vitara setup I had last. With the last setup I ran the Edelbrock kit which used the GT28 turbo. This had EXCELLENT spool times and gave a wonderful powerband. This time I am aiming for the 350whp mark and would like help in turbo size reccomendations. I was thinking GT30 but those are hard to find used.

there was one in the honda tech market place but it was around a G I think. that would be a sweet setup. Im looking at getting a sc34 for myself which should have pretty good spool time and capable of making 545bhp

So a T3/T4 with a .50 AR is fine? I am a little new to the whole number size thing on turbos. The 50 trim refers to the intake side (inducer) correct? I see you can also get different sized exducer (exhaust) wheels. Larger wheel I am assuming = more boost capabilities at the expense of spool time, am I right? I don't want something that isn't spooling until 6k rpms. Thats going to make for a very poor powerband.

The .50A/R doesn't represent the "50" trim. Its a 52.8mm inducer with a 75mm exducer. The difference between the two measurements represents "trim". this particular unit is nice, small, responsive, and can come in a stage II or Stage III exhaust wheel. What you need to concern yourself with is the fact that you have 7.8:1 compression, and that you need to determine what power level you need. For anything under 350whp for now and the future, I recommend using the Stage II exahust wheel in a .48A/R for such a low compression that keeps it relatively responsive in the lower band. You have no high rpm range, so that's not an issue. "spool" is only relative based upon your compression, displacement, power goal, and use. If you get "spool" too quickly, it becomes uncontrollable on an FWD application. A GT30 is just a wrong application and an expensive choice that isn't needed.

My compression will be 9:1, not the 7.8... This isn't a Vitara setup. On my last Vitara setup I even used custom length rods. Made for excellent spool using my GT28. Anyways, this setup I am using SRP 9:1 pistons.... 75.5mm... Eagle rods with the Y8 head. I know it will support more then 350whp, but I figured much more then this level becomes "worthless" to a point on the street. The Edelbrock kit I had at 15psi was pretty rediculous below 50mph.. Anything from a dig and I was playing catch up from traction issues.

get boost by gear too if you don't already have it. best thing ever for fwd cars. I can line up with built fox bodys when Im on street tires and they have more traction porblems then me with big m/t's on the back

Was planning on it since I already have ECtune... was going to add the components to the ECU and use the ECU as the boost controller. Figured that would help a good amount as well as a decent LSD. LSD is going to have to come later. I am going to finish the build and start putting together the kit here shortly. Hopefully some of these B series parts sell shortly. Ive got a lot of good items if you know anyone!

Well, if you have a GT28R kit already, you can simply upgrade to the GT2860RS or GT2871R. Should bolt up and get you the higher power you're looking for.

No, the Edelbrock kit is long gone. Only thing left is the intercooler. This is a brand new setup and I don't want to run a Cali emissions legal kit. Looking to do external wastegate, more boost, make 350-400whp. So the T3/T4 50 trim, right?

Sure, why not... Make sure you use the Stage III exhaust wheel option in at least the .63A/R
