building my b18c1 block, what do i need?
so now that my engine poop'd i need to build it.
going to build my block on my gsr. What would i need once the block is out?
water pump, head gasket, etc....
what do u guys reccommend i do, such as sleeving the block, or boring it?
i want to buy all the parts 1st, and then have them installed.
any advice on what brands to buy, size, etc?
whats a good price to pay for:
pistons=?
rods=?
sleeving or boring=?
head gasket=?
water pump=?
etc=?
thanks a lot guys!

It really depends on the condition of the block you're using, what you're using it for, your power goals and your budget. Once you give us a little more info on your setup, we can give you a better answer as to what you should do. Also, if you have a turbo setup and fuel grade in mind, include that because it will determine the approximate compression ratio you may want...

Of course you'd say that

well i want a reliable block where if im pulling 400whp doing pulls from 60-140 it can take a beating (no problem).
i still want to stay in the 91 octane range, and it will be my DD.
currently running 440cc, 255 fuel pump, upgraded fuel rail, stage 4 competition clutch/flywheel.
dont want to spend too much money just the neccessary, to have a boosted reliable DD car!

lol, i hope your expecting to dump a lot of money into this set up...
i am just finishing up a smiliar set up and spent about $3.5k - and i already had the turbo set up.
your biggest purchases will most likely be - your pistons/rods, tune, clutch, and machine work...again, thats not including the turbo kit.
i hope money isnt an issue with this project of yours! if it is, good luck!

With the correct fuel, tune and turbo setup, making a reliable 400whp piston/rod combo should be relatively easy. Start with a simple CP/Eagle combo (compression based on turbo, fuel grade and power goal) then tune and have fun. If you have the money, sleeving would be ideal, but at this point, unnecessary.

what did the engine's poop look like? was it runny or solid? JK
On a serious note the cause of the "poop" will help determine cost of rebuild machining wise.

Re: (Schister66)
hey, i dont think you should just throw in a set of pistons and rods and be done with it. for 400hp goal, you would need exhast, studs, and clutch at the least to be able to support that much power....your looking at
$800 pistons/rods
$80 head gasket
$120 arp studs
$500 clutch
$500 exhaust
$700-1000 for tune w/software
unless you wanna rip the motor apart again in short future, this is what i would go with, and expect to spend a few hundred on hoses and other small misc. ****

Re: (nolicense526)
i think i didnt explain myself!
-i already have/installed a turbo setup that can easily handle 400whp.
-already have/installed a stage 4 competition clutch and flywheel combo that can easily handle the torque for my hp goal!
-already have/installed 3'' cat back exhaust
-already tuned my car on crome and everything was running good for about 2years. i would just need to re-tune for new hp goal!
all i wanted to know was what else would i need to replace in the process of building the block. the usual is pistons, rods, what else? thanks

Re: (jorge59la)

is $1,100 reasonable for removing engine, boring, honing, installing parts, doing, valves, and re-installing engine.
i will buy parts and they will do the rest!
