Building engine, want to upgrade the turbo
Hello
I starts this with a warning. NON Honda prosject ahead its just placed here because i belive there are lots of knowledge too draw from here.
I have ran my car about 1,5 years now after i turbocharged the engine.
The car is a 88 Mazda 626 Coupe with a 2,0L DOHC engine
stock output are 148hp@6000rpm / 182nm@4000rpm
Currently i am running it with stock internals, 10:1 cr and 7,5psi intercooled from a Schwitzer T28 clone (same intake and exhaust flanges)
Since i have a complete spare engine + a brand new shortblock
i consider too rebuild the spare engine and use 8,5:1 forged pistons too allow more boost.
To get the power i need and keep things simple i need a turbocharger with T25/T28 footprint, able too support 300-350hp crank hp at 6000-7000 rpm without sacrificing the fat midrange i now enjoys.
So i ask:
Will a GT28RS with a 0,82 exhaust housing be able too keep boost up, all the way too redline (7000rpm) on my 2,0L engine, and still provide good response and low down torque?
Or will i be forced too search for a different footprint turbo (wich will make my current manifold useless) ?

Re: Building engine, want to upgrade the turbo (FE3T)
Hi FE3T, I know you from the Norwegian Bilforumet.Net. Nice to see you chiming in here on Honda-Tech. Now, from what I've gathered, the GT28RS seems to be the #1 turbo for you. Ballbearing, good efficiency, great response, and it comes with the T25 inlet flange for the turbine side if I'm not mistaken. It shoud have no problem pusing 350 BHP on your 2.0 Mazda with it's 35 Lbs/Min. maximum flow rate.
