Im sure there are plenty of people on this site that are curious about this too, Ialways wondered it myself, but being that theres probably not any performance gained through it, I really didnt care enough to know the answer...

Ram air is the employment of sound waves in the intake manifold to produce a slight power boost at a certain RPM - I don't see how in the hell you're going to *usefully* incorperate a BOV into that. Here's some info on Ram Air Theory - http://www.grapeaperacing.com/GrapeA...ehelmholtz.cfm

But if anyone knows diffrently, do tell...

why would anyone need a BOV for a NA car... its not like your protecting your filter from air moving out the other way or anything... BOV's were made to save your turbo.

BOV's are designed to prevent compressor surge, so they would serve no purpose whatsoever on a N/A car.

Here's the thing, this artical said that if you have a ram air or similar setup where the air intake pressure exceeds atmospheric air pressure (as turbo and SC setups do) a BOV can help "virtual spooling."

The theory is that when the throttle plate closes, the air velocity virtually slows down and resets the air pressure to below atmospheric. If you use a BOV with this type of setup, the air escapes from the BOV, while the throttle plate is closed, which keeps a contant positive pressure. Of course this is all theory and applies only at high speed while shifting.

AND it acutally produces the same loud BOV sound that we all love even though the car is NA...

I think I get what you are saying, you're saying that when the throttle plate shuts, the BOV would keep the velocity of the air going. Because without a BOV the air would pretty much hit a "wall" (throttle plate) and velocity would slow or stop. Instead of the air "stopping" at the throttle plate it would just exit out the BOV, thus keeping the velocity of the rest of the oncoming air up.

It kind of makes sense...you know...um...not really.

I guess it would kind of work if you closed the throttle for a split second (like hundredths of a second), or if the intake tube wasa couple hundred feet long. Other than that, I don't think so.
