I'm thinking about buying a block with these internals. Is this good to hold 400 whp? I think it would be ok, I just wanted to get other peoples opinions. Thanks Ramsey.

with a good tune it should hold no problem.

but remember, there are a lot of variable that can go wrong, if a part fails, bad things can happen!

I rocked pretty much the same setup (minus blockguard) for over a year no problems.......350-400 whp daily driven.

You should be fine with a good tune.

Yeah, that was the only part I was really worried about, but at 400-450 I've heard should be good on the stock sleeves.

What exactly does the block guard do? I've heard it helps, then I've heard it doesn't really do anything at all?

it keeps the sleeves from rocking back and forth....it also adds a little bit of strength to the top 1/2" of the sleeve

i asked my machine shop guy the other day when i went to pick up a spare lsv-r motor about block guards. i have read numerous posts here of people pushing maddd power without the use of a bg. i asked what his thoughts are, and he said that he reccomends the bg. he also told me that they have never gotten a cracked sleve yet from they way they install the bg. what are your guys thoghts on bg's? how come you guys who are pushing around 3-400 hp on stock sleeves choosing NOT to go with a bg? im very curious, as i am contemplating on what to do.... either going stock sleeves with no bg, stock sleeves with bg, or sleeved. sorry for the thread jack btw

That's cool, I want to know to. I want to be pushing between 390- 410 eventually so I'd like to know more about block guards.

i was also curious about block gaurds, i just got a deal on a built motor that has one professionally installed and i hear alot about people who dont like them or say they would never run them. i kind of figured that if a rep-ed company makes them they cant be that bad. when i searched i heard that some have over heating issues, im curious to why or what are the down sides to them? not trying to thread jack

bump for some bg infos... pros and cons to y u would or would not use a bg for your 300-400 hp setup. i understand that alot of u guys are saying its not neccessary, but lets say just for piece of mind without the option of sleeving... would it be worth the $100?
