boosting stock gsr.. good tune = ??lbs

im putting a garrett 60-1 turbo on my built gsr but stock fuel pump and injecters (has fuel rail and fpr).

me and my friend is putting the turbo kit on and i wanna know how much boost can the 2 of us put on safely... i know good tune and i can run higher boost but i dont have good tune money.

i know that turbo is HUGE and too big to put on but this is only the beginning.. this summer i will be running 20+ no doubt and i already have a intercooler that can handle 700+ whp

lemme know somethin

well, since you are runnig stock fuel pump, stock injectors, and looks like no fuel management at all, not even an fmu......NO BOOST WHATSOEVER!!!!

you will screw your motor by doin that......dont throw your shit down the drain

and are you fully building the motor to handle 20psi on that turbo??? if not, what the hell are you thinking?? it looks to me like you may need to further your research before you really screw something up.....or you could have just said you were building the motor, if that is the case......but if that is the case, you have enough money for a tune, and right now, that is much more important than building the motor....cause what good is a built motor if its not tuned and you blow it up?? tired of seeing people do stupid stuff to screw up their motors

you are going to need to spend some money in order for it to be reliable and worth your time

Evanmb44 03-31-2005 10:21 PM

sorry, my bad......didnt notice the motor was already built...ignore that part of my statement

dood, i am being 100% serious. ZERO. if any other chump tells you to boost on stock injector and no fuel management... they are an idiot.

Evanmb44 03-31-2005 10:30 PM

no boost without fuel management.. plain and simple

99B16Si 03-31-2005 11:06 PM

am i missing somwething or does the title say "stock" gsr motor, and then the details say "built"??? if its built...what the hell is in it???

either way...pick up yourself a set of 440cc or larger injectors and a good intank fuel pump and some sort of fuel managment (i.e. uberdata, crome, hondata, etc.) at this point u should be able to make 280whp+ on a stock motor and obviously more on a built motor and still have it to drive everyday.....fix your post and goodluck....youll need it

Re: (99B16Si)

I'm running 7 psi on my stock bottom end. Going to try 10 out this weekend at the track but my shit is tuned good on 450 dsms. But I run 7 psi stock around town. BUY SOME INJECTORS. Atleast that way you can get a basemap from uberdata or something.....

Zakar 04-01-2005 02:45 AM

keep in mind 450's top out relitivly low

deftones0817 04-01-2005 02:53 AM

Re: (Zakar)

really i turned it up to 10 the other night and the a/f look good. I added like 3% percent more fuel and it was perfect at 10 psi. I mean I know I'm reaching close to the limits but Its a stock bottom end so I can't go much higher anyways. Oh yeah get a fuel pump also.

I disagree. That setup sounds good for 25+ psi. Just be absolutely sure you videotape the first run and post the vid in this thread once you're done. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif

Re: boosting stock gsr.. good tune = ??lbs (notoriousB)

the thing i dont get is why anyone would want to run 25 psi on the street. I mean Im running 7 psi and I have traction issues. I tried 10 while doing the tune and when i was on it. It really sucked to drive my car. I think i went slower because of all the wheel spin and that was with drag radials on car. I think 7 is a good amount for the street. But what do i know. 25+ psi is just something to brag about unless your building an all out racecar.

maxheat 04-01-2005 12:04 PM

i have a vortech fmu if that helps any..

maxheat 04-01-2005 12:06 PM

well im planning on trading the turbo for a smaller one just because i dont need to run 25+ lbs but what i need to know is how much boost did other ppl run with their stock fuel pump and fuel injectors.

Ckjeepin 04-01-2005 12:10 PM

your question should ask.
boosting stock gsr good tune = ??hp
how much boost is not relevant.

maxheat 04-01-2005 12:54 PM

ok how about this... how much boost can i run with a bone stock gsr

dustin 04-01-2005 01:00 PM

Re: (maxheat)

None. GSRs aren't turbo from the factory.

did you even read what that guy said? wow.

either way, you can't boost on a stock injectors and fuel pump! stop asking!

the stock 240's come from the factory running damn near 100% duty cycle in GSR's. you can't get any more out of them. you could boost with an FMU and a GOOD inline pump... but why would you want to do that when there are so many better choices.

Re: (ndogg)

do some reading man.

http://www.uberdata.org engine management system its free!!
http://www.moates.net chip burner for ems yummy
http://www.plxdevices.com wideband o2 im running plx m500 sorta overkill now that i learned more https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif m300 is probably good to get
get some dsm injectors <---good starting point for low boost and are inexpensive
get a walbro 255 lph fuel pump <---pretty inexpensive

now after reading some more you can tune your car youself if you feel comfortable.

greatly depends on what your horsepower goal is. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
