Default Boosting my B16, but I want it reliable, is this set up good.

I'm thinking of boosting my B16a2 but I want to keep it reliable. I drive about 500 miles a week. I'm thinking of only going 5 or 6 lbs of boost to keep it on the safe side. Is this set up a good set up. And would I even be safe to run 7 lbs or should I just keep it at 5 or 6.

also I know I will need to get injectors and other things.

The first problem is the kit. SSAC and XS power are shitty brands put together with cheap products and sold for cheap, thats why people are so interested in them.

Do some research on them and learn what people have said before just jumping right into something. Plus 5k a week is a lot of miles for a turbo car, i am not saying it cant be done, but its still a **** load of miles to put on a "performace engine"

More power to you if you do it, but get something thats going to be reliable first, then work your way up. JMO

Well it make be pretty cheap, but will it even work? Can you explain what makes it crappy? If its intended for low boost applications, wouldnt it work just fine?

I know the fake jdm itr headers suck because of the welds.... so whats up with this kit? or something similar made by XS

ok, so I wont be getting that set up, but is 500 miles a week to much even if your pushing 5 or 6 lbs, and also would I be able to buy some type of electronic boost controler so I could adjust the bost way down when doing my normal driving and then to 5 or 6 lbs when I race.

5 or 6 lbs IS way down. Most stock kits boost 7-8 lbs.

will 7 lbs be ok and still drive 500 miles a week, but have a boost controler to lower my boost most of the time.

you can run 20 psi driving 500 miles. But seriously how many miles are going to be boosting 20 psi.. I am just making that up to be a point.

It doesn't matter how many miles you put on the car, it really only matters how much boost you are going to run. You aren't going to blow it up cruising on the highway.. atleast I hope not.

But check the forced induction classifieds for some good deals and you can piece together a very nice kit for a decent price.

As for what boost, that is up to you really. You can run anywhere from 7-10 psi, depending on the turbo and daily drive it without any problems at all after tuning. Tuning is a very key point in your build

exactly, invest in your tuning and you'll be fine.
Read up on turbo's and how they work and you'll learn a lot, sounds like you have a lot to learn before you embark upon this adventure.

Its funny that the typical dumbass thinks everyone else is stupid. I asked a few people and did 5 minutes of research before i figured out these kits are bogus. Our engines cost a decent amount of $, why risk blowing them with cheap kits, or having to buy the same part twice? YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
