do you have a boost gauge, are you sure your hitting boost ?

also 5 degree's sounds a bit much for only 6 lbs of boost.

do u have a missing link or check valves. and dont retard your so much, u should only retard it like 2 degrees, the more u retard it the slower it will go, the reason u retard your timing is to make the engine run cooler so the motor dosent detonate. wat u need to do is get some better fuel management, and the car wil go much better.

Retarding your timing adds heat to the motor!!! and your car won't be that slow with 6 degrees pulled out. It should still kill the all motor. Look elsewhere, like charge pipes and stuff like that.

you're probably spinning your tires too much. get colder spark plugs, some street slicks and turn boost up to 8lbs.

It will only add heat away from the motor and closer to the exhaust because of a later burn. The actual combustion temperatures will be lower with less timing.

yea i have a boost gauge and it shows between 5 and 6.thats all the spring will allow and that fine with me till i get better engine management ,but that will be about 6 months from now . .. ill try 13, 14 real quick and see what that does will that be ok?? stock is 16

oh yea im using check valves .are they better than a missing link? or vice versa?

my friend had this problem and it was because he had leaks in the charge pipes... they werent tight and all and he had no pressure... Once he tightened everything up it worked fine... I dunno if that could be a symptom of your problem but it fixed my friends issue...

With lesser timing, the combustion occurs later in the power stroke. Instead of having all the heat and expansion pushing the pistons down, it will be shot out of the exhaust valves and raising EGT's. Heat will be at the manifold, turbo, etc... but not inside the engine. Coicidentally, the EGT sensor is also located after the exhaust ports.

at 4000 see full 5 to 6 lbs .usually 5 but its been cold, small spike to 6lbs.. didnt have time to redo timing yea .ill try in the morning ,..i guess around 14 with good huh?

check all the piping and vacumm lines they look good .i think it could be in timing maybe,.. lets hope . thanks to all those that are helping

14 is probably good for 5-6psi, but i don't think thats your problem. Even with the timing backed down pretty far it shouldn't feel slower than stock.

a b16 with 5-6psi should definantely be much faster.

Change the timing back to stock, at that low of boost level, there's absolutely no reason to change static timing.

everyone has forgotten about asking what are u using to retard timing

did u just do it at the dizzy?? remember OBDII will compensate the timing, so u cant change timing at distribuitor

maybe u still got too much timing

When I first boosted my hatch I thought it felt like ****, the timing was was too low. Set the timing back to stock and you will definately feel a difference
