Default Boosted z6 build need some advice...

hey all. im building a z6 and im planning to boost. im also dropping it in my ef. i have yet to buy parts and im wondering what i should do. please help. i was told to buy eagle pistons and to use my stock rods and crank. but my friend who works at a machine shop says he can get me a whole eagle bottom end kit for about a grand. i also heard that the eagle crank and rods were heavier then stock so thus less power to the wheels. is this true?

1. Pick a power goal
2. Figure out how much money it will cost, then triple that number
3. Prepare for it to break and always have money on you for a tow

This will make the whole process enjoyable and fun.

I vote for a Garrett GT25 or GT28, these snails will spool quick with low displacement and be darn quick during daily driving situations (the 28 may be too large for daily driving "fun" depending on mods)

You will gain reliability with the heavier Eagle components. Installing them with no other mods with reduce power.

I can give you a couple of sugestion i own a boosted eg with a z6. I would go with no stock internal parts. Remember you blow it your walking.......I went with Vitara Pistons and scat rods. acl bearings, arp head, main, and rod studs. make sure you bullet proof your bottom end. cylinder head polishing 3angle valve job and prep and bottom end work i did it all. also make sure all tolerences are to specs. the only stock part used was head gasket. if you bullet proof the internals no worries. VERY VERY Important do not skimp out on tuning.........

definately dont skimp on tuning. it makes the difference.

for the price and results, no reason not to get vitaras and eagles. order the 75.5mm vitaras then bring them to the machine shop with the block so ptw can be calculated.

also you dont need port and polish and stuff like that, there are tons of people making over 300hp on stock heads. if you mod the head get an aftermarket intake manifold then maybe a zex cam if u want more. its by no means necessary.

also you dont need to spend 1200 on a gt series turbo. you can even throw a t3 super 60 or something similar on.

right now im using a mitsubishi 15t from a saab viggen. i get like 13 psi at about 4000 rpms and it made 215hp at 10 psi.

Vitara pistons do a .20 over bore if you can that way you can pick p2w clearance use fj distributers d16 kit it comes with forged rods vitara pistons and arp rod bolts you don't need a forged crank at all you don't need to sleave it use a small turbo like a 50 trim so you can kit a early fast spool. Tune tune tune. Can't stress that enough using just a basemap or staying on chrome could be a huge mistake. Oh and arp headstuds of coarse. And that will make a safe daily for easy 200s and with a bigger turbo easy 300s

Stock crank is ok, forged pistons like je, ross, etc are great choice but more costly than vitaras with eagle or scat rods. Also 50 trim turbo will a great choice for street with an occasional drag.
