Default boosted teg having trouble with timing belt

okay i have done tons of cam swaps, a few engine builds, and a few sets of timing gears on cars i know what im doing but i have ran into a problem.... set cams at TDC and set the crank at TDC. with all the tenshion out the the belt i always roll it over one time just to be sure its working right. i get back to TDC on the crank and the cam gears arent quite lined up they have always lined up perfect for me before this motor. its not till the yellow mark on the crank pully passes tdc by about 1/4 inch or less do the cam gears line up like they are suposed to. its such a small error that if i try to move the cams one notch in the belt forward they are all the way to the red mark and if i move a space back they are hella far from the yellow mark. okay this is a brand new motor just rebuilt the only things i can think of are either the new oem belt is stretched somehow? or the guy who did the machine work on my motor milled the **** out of the head and block and now the actual height of the motor is making it impossible to get it perfect? im lost if this makes any sense please help me HT

have you tried a few times? i get the cams and the crank lined up put the belt on make sure it kinda tight on the long side the slack should be on the tensionor side then take it about 2 teeth over and let the tensionor lose and tighten back up then spin back to tdc

How are you putting the timing belt on? Are you putting the belt on the exhaust cam first or the intake cam?

line up the crank with the mark on the oil pump rather than the timing marks on the cover.

has the block ever been resurfaced or the head been milled? that could cause this problem

i have also tried using the mark on the oil pump and the gear same results yes the engine is new i just had the block sleeved and head pnp'd so im assuming they would take it down at least 10 thousandths to get a fresh surface to work with but it could be more im going to email the guy who built them for me and see exactly how much was taken from each. can i just set the motor to tdc and adjust the cam gears to make up for the difference?
