just get one. their not bad products if your not looking to make some serious hp(example like500+)the main things that are cheap about them are the turbo manifold(they tend to crack at the welds)and the turbos(the seals go out quick on some turbos). but theres someguys i know that where running .50 trim ebay turbos on stock bottom end ls motors and running 12's and 11's all night long at the track. and they are putting down 450hp on the duno

Re: anyone own a ebay turbo kit??
Sometime you get a f*** up turbo, sometimes you get a good one. My bro ran 1 on his ls swapped civic. It did pretty good for a ebay turbo kit, it actually outlasted a sc61. But I've heard horror stories of ebay turbo. I guess it depends if it was built on a monday/ friday or tues-thursday. Lol..

If you want it so bad go buy it, just be prepared for the manifold to crack everywhere, the wastegate not to hold boost and the turbo to most likely blow up after a few hundred miles.
So in summation, don't be cheap, buy quality parts that will cost more but last A LOT LONGER!

i myself have run i would say about a 80% ebay kit (bought a cast iron mani). They actully do work for the price i would upgrade piece by piece when you can. Just be warned that the bling bling manis break and crack all the time.

OP take all of this for what it's worth and who it's coming from. It all depends on how handy you are with a wrench and how often you want to be working on your car and how much power you want to make.
LoLz
What's the point of doing it twice?! Waste of time and money!
Everything breaks, just those cheap, thin manifold more so than others!

well upgradeing to a BETTER part that actully has a name on it and when you contact the company and tell them what is up they are more likly to help out a customer. Is a EBAY vendor? nope. I have had a problem with my Tial WG i contacted them sent it in and they fixed the problem and sent it back to me....If i sent it to a ebay vendor i wouldnt get anything.

Also I was saying just buy those in the first place, take the time and plan out the build!

Re: anyone own a ebay turbo kit??
Oh lord. Recently, a friend of a friend bought an ebay turbo kit for his extremely riced out civic with a d series. It turned out to have a turbo that had play in the spool, missing a downpipe, it was not a/c friendly despite the advertisement, missing oil lines, and the couplers were at such a bad quality..
It was brought to my buddy's shop and my buddy was telling me how much of a nightmare it was to install it. It should be done tomorrow so maybe I'll post a horror story if one happens.. lol

A perfect example, back in the day my buddy purchased an SS auto chrome turbo and manifold for his car, literally on 1st spool the wheel exploded........

Re: anyone own a ebay turbo kit??
buy and post vids and reviews after so many miles please.
I wouldn't try and push the turbo to the limit. I don't know much or have experience but from what I've seen and read...make sure the turbine is actually balanced and like others have said replace pieces as you go.

Re: anyone own a ebay turbo kit??
I technically have an ebay kit. The only thing I swapped out was the Manifold and Wastegate spring. It holds boost with no problems. I made well over 200hp. The car is my Daily Driver so it gets a few runs in here and there.

I just don't understand why you people want to rush things so badly, it never ends well!
A motor build is something you want to plan out, think what you will use it for (Drag, daily, auto X, etc) then select the best parts to build a good reliable setup for that use. Different parts will make a HUGE difference, no matter what purpose they serve.
I spent about 7 months selecting the right parts for my turbo motor, got it together and drove that around(for fun) for about a year while I selected and found the turbo parts I wanted/needed.
Car ended up making great power for the build and seems to be going strong without issue.
