Default Boosted Motors and road trips...dangerous?

Like the title says, I am currently researching as many different angles to a boost motor as possible before I build on. I compete in martial arts tournaments and they tend to be a minimum of 4 hours away from where I stay. I am currently all motor and have had no problems with the drives.

My question is for those of you that take your car to all places, drive long distances etc... I would like to know is it just as reliable as an all motor car in that if you turn the boost down and do your best to keep it our of boost you will be fine?

that depends on your system.

if you have good tuning and good physical components assembled properly, etc then a boosted motor wont give you much more trouble than a naturally aspirated one.

there are plenty of vehicles that are turbocharged from the factory that run fine on long trips.

if you dont have alot of money or alot of fabrication skills, its probably best to go for something else

4 years ago when i built my b16 the first time, i put it together in a weekend and drove it from philly on the superstreet tour to atlanta. it made it htere and back no problems except the fact that it was pit rich and fuel washjed the engine, but 4 years ago there wasnt too much for engine management and all i had was an fmu. but if i had the setup i have now, i would do it again.

old setup was 0.010 over b16, nu-formz block guard, arp studs, 9:1's and crowers.
with a drag gen 3 kit to4b. never over heated or ran hot. and i still had the stock half rad single core.
