boosted ls motors. what kind of power are people getting without a vtec head and no internals ?
i was wondering what kind of dyno numbers people are getting on non-built ls motors without a vtec head. i currently have a built b16a1 with 10.5:1 srp's, eagle rods, all new bearings and water pump, .020 overbore with a nu-formz block gaurd, venom manifold, gsr throttle body. i am thinking of selling it all and going ls tho because of the displacement and the fact that non-vtec cars are easier to tune. so i was wondering what kind of numbers people are getting on stock ls motors with turbo? if i dont sell the stuff i have i will be boosting the b16.

Once you get a set of cams in the LS engine.. your "easy tuning" goes away.. they begin to be a pain to get to idle a run smooth in low RPMs. We have made 380on a stock engine, with just a block guard and JG1001 cams.

in your opinion is the built b16 better or the stock ls for reliability and ease of tuning. i want 300hp to the wheels in street trim. i know that you helped my friend josh with his 99si awhile ago and i have heard a lot of good things about your tuning so i was wondering what you would do b16 or ls.

what set-p were u running to get 380..... turbo, injectors etc??? I was getting 260 out of mine with stock injectors @ 10psi but was running too lean. Just recently built the engine and gone to 310's but haven't had time to go tune it yet and turn up the boost

How well (and long) has the ls rods holding 380whp?

The turbo setup is very simple, its all in the tuning. the only thing I use in the engine is a block guard. The engine is still alive, its been running for over a year and a half.

no dyno #s but track #s speak for themselves...
Stock LS in full weight 00 Si
Best ET: 12.23@111
Best MPH: 12.56@119
This was with a Cheapturbo T3/60-1 at 1 BAR and a TEC2 EMS. I drive my car everyday at least 50 miles a day and get on it very often. The motor has been in the car for a year now and it still runs really strong. I would take a stock LS over a built B16, but thats just me.
...and i have to disagree with the tuning with cams idea mentioned above, If you have good Engine management(and tuner of course) then you should have no problems.
I love stock LS motors
