Boosted gs-r in hatch + oil light popping on????
B18c built, 14psi, oil is topped off, no leaks from what we could see. Just swapped a larger FMIC and took it for a spin. Few passes and then all of a sudden heard a squeal or squeaking when building boost in 4th gear. Let off and oil light is stuck on?
Not sure if it is the sensor on the back of the block or maybe a faulty oil pump gear.

This is hard to diagnose with such little information.
You know what the car felt like, sounded like, when this happened, so you better get to checking parts.

It was around 3-4k rpms.. heard the noise and it felt like a loss of power. So we I let off the throttle and babied it home. The oil light has since been on. No leaks anywhere not from the turbo, lines, pan, gaskets anywhere. Of course not certain of the oil pump location but fid I'd post up before taking it apart.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: Boosted gs-r in hatch + oil light popping on????
Oil pump is on the crank pulley side of the vehicle. To remove it you need to pull the crank pulley, timing covers, timing belt/crank gear, oil pan, and oil sump. Check your sender ffirst to be sure the wire didn't fall off, BUT with the other symptoms, I would say your pump gear broke. Most likely you have damage to bearings, crank, Turbo, and possibly valvetrain/head. This is why everyone should run a oil pressure gauge - especially when boosted.

What if the noise was only at that point when in 4th building boost etc? No noises any right now while idling or anything?
I'll be checking out the sensor first and chime in later.

do you have an oil pressure gauge? the stock honda idiot light is worthless... you need a gauge or we really can't help you.
normally the light only comes on when you have 0 oil pressure... which means its already too late to save the motor in most cases. please tell me you haven't continued to drive it with the light on..

When this happened we were maybe an 8th of a mile from the shop. We drove it back that far let it idle while opening the shop and drove onto the lift. It sounded fine, ran fine. A friend said he had this issue from what we explained and said we could have hit an oil squirter? We have aftermarket pistons that are not cut out for them so they were turned when we did the build.
Right now we are looking to see if that is a possibility as well as checking out other things.

Well we found the issue.. as we took the oil pan out and removed it we found wonderful large chunks of oilpump gear! There doe snot seem to be any other damage but tomorrow we'll know more. Thanks for the info thus far.

theres no way that the cam journals arent scored and the main and rod bearings dont have damage.... especially when you kept driving the car and let it sit at idle...
you need to pull the cam camps off and the rod caps and the mains and check, they could have debris and damage in them and change your oil filter since it probably sucked a lot up

Get a damn oil pressure gauge now... You'll are a drop in oil pressure before something goes wrong.
