Default Boosted EFs, what FMIC fits behind stock bumper?

I'm looking for a FMIC that will for the most part fit behind the stock front bumper. I don't mind cutting away a bit at the bumper to get it to fit, but I do not want to have to elemintate bumper supports or anything like that.

Where is a good place to get intercooler piping and how many of each bend have you all used?

on my eg i just used one of the ebay piping kits, and was still able to retain my foglights. i think we used 2 straight pieces 2 90' bends and a 60 and a 45 (all the piping came in the kit ) also on the bumper, we wanted it to fit easy also so we got a 8" by 28" by 2.5" and it fit very easily,

all we had to cut on the bumper was just gutting out the insides, you cant tell anything from the outside.

maybe that helps! cost under 200$ for all of it

Good lookin out! Exactly the one I was looking at . Where did you mount your BOV? Did you buy a seperate section that had a GReddy/1G or HKS flange on it?

custom all the way.

I used

-several 2.5" mild steel bends
-tbolts (had for cheap if you know where to look)
-NAPA couplers (part # 617: 2.5ID hose $16/ft)
-big ebay FMIC (not really applicable for you because I cut a fair amount of bumper support.

Anyway... with a 9x3x31 ic I'm under ~200 bucks.

Those kits advertise thick walled AL but most of the ones I've seen are really thin and hard to weld. Neway... Save some cash and just pop a hole in the charge pipes and have someone else weld on the flange you need. This is one of the main reasons I went with Mild steel... cheap and I can work with it.

i have a seperate system, this is on my drag car. one time we ghetto'd it and welded 3 dsm side mounts together, fit pretty good

but with an air to water i wouldnt want to run it to my radiator, who want 180* + water going through their intercooler?

sorry, actually the basic ones that come with the kits. i have to check what size it is. it should be the smallest one, which is still pretty big

from what I remember its a 25x8x3.5

Edit:
eh I dont remember exactly. hehe
but the other sizes are

22x6.5x3
27x6.5x3
24x10x3.5
24x8x3.5

So is it safe to say that the 24x10x3.5 would fit well? I don't have a problem cutting the bumper to fit.(Or cut the bumper to make more of the intercooler show ) I'm looking for the largest intercooler I can fit that retains all OEM equipment as far as the bumper goes. I'll trim the bumper if needed to get it to fit.

Thanks for all the help to all so far

You can make just about any intercooler fit. Just buy one and install it.

I have a 9" tall intercooler and I had to trim my bumper support a bit, but nothing too bad. If you are trying to turbo an EF you are going to have to do some modifications, fitting a FMIC will be the least of your worries.

I have the JRC 8" and it fit just fine. However, I did have to chop about 1/2 the bumper support out so now it looks like this..... [[[[[----------------------]]]]] rather than
[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]].... hows that for ghetto explanation

i have the small precision one... Had to cut about 25% off the bottom of the bumper beam (boxed back in) and shave down the plastic on the inside of the bumper.

EDIT: On my IC piping.. I used... (cold side) 3 90's, and 1 45.. (hot side) 3 90's.. I bought a extra bend of each.

GL.

Is that all the piping I need to get the IC installed? What BOV are you using on that 45 bend?

No cutting or shaving of anything?

Anyone know if I take the bumper support out, how big of an intercooler will fit? Just curious.....
