BOOSTED B18C5 COMPLETE BUILD DAILY DRIVER 400HP?
#51

Ill look into 5w 40. Does anyone else have recommendations for which weight oil would be best? I know it usually depends on bearing clearance also but I plan to run the clearances a little loose

i have tried lots of oils including the full synthetics and so on. imo i like the amsoil for a full synth but its pricey. i personally switched to motul 5100 10w40 which is what i ran in all my bikes and my car really seems to like it.

From what i know there more for all out race use where the engine has regular tear downs. I'd just use what people tend to use as this is a street car. I'm using Brian Crower steel retainers in my engine. You may want to look into them to.

The thing is your best off just upgrading the lot if your going to bother. Can't you wait a little longer and save a bit more cash? I'd say steel retainers are your best option as you don't have to worry about replacing them.

Yea im just worried about using my keepers with who knows how many miles on them. And I see allot of companies saying you need to use their retainers with their keepers because of the angle

I always worry about keepers to. You know if one does decide to go it will take the entire engine out with it. Good luck with what ever you decide to do anyway. I just hope you can be patient.

Anyone have recommendations on what spark plugs I need? I picked up some ngks awhile ago but they are non resistor plugs so I can't use them
#71

Whats wrong with non resistor plugs ? There the only plugs i ever run and have run for around 3 years now. What plugs are they R5671A-8(or 7) ?

Which ones do I need out of these 3 part numbers?

You maybe right there as i think there is some kind of minor issue with the s300 and non resistor plugs. There fine with Ectune/Neptune though as i've tried these personally.
Go for NGK BKR7E for the mean while. You may or may not need to step down to a "8". But leave that to your tuner to decide.
